Perry Ellis OK after Kansas victory over Georgetown

Kansas University players Tarik Black and Naadir Tharpe said KU forward Perry Ellis told them he was OK following a blow to the head during KU’s 86-64 victory over Georgetown on Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse.

Black, who filled in well for Ellis, who played just 12 minutes, said Ellis told the team that when he shot the free throw following the foul he felt like he was going with the ball.

KU coach Bill Self addressed Elllis’ status to open his postgame press conference.

“I’m not a doctor, OK, but if he had a concussion it’s very, very, very slight,” Self said. “What he did is he bruised a nerve in his neck and it’s something that the doctors think he’ll be able to come back from in a very short time.”

Self said a “short time” meant a matter of days and with the Jayhawks not scheduled to play again until Dec. 30 and off for a few days because of winter break, Ellis is expected to be ready for KU’s next game against Toledo.
