Kansas men’s golf in 12th place

— Stan Gautier fired five birdies, the most by a Kansas University men’s golfer this season, while senior Chris Gilbert added four to lead the Jayhawks to a team score of 9-over 297 in the second round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Monday at Spirit Hollow Golf Course.

Gilbert finished the day with a team-low round of 1-under 71 and is tied for 13th at 145. Gautier shot 72 and is tied for 39th with 151.

KU is in 12th with a two-round score of 603.

Other KU scores: Dylan McClure, tied for 58th, 154; Bryce Brown, tied for 63rd, 157; and Ryley Haas, tied for 68th, 159.

The tournament will conclude today.

Its hard to get a perspective on how good 8th place is unless you know how many are competing.
