Looks like the Hawks are better this year but it might not help in the most important areas of recruiting and fund raising. Our running game and improved defense are reason to be happy but the reality of a possible 1 win season is not going to do anything with recruiting, and equally as important, fund raising.
There is a bit of denial about how bad our stadium really is. The thing is an eye sore that hinders recruits. Period. Fund raising is crucial.
The losses to Rice and NIU were massive. It was crucial to win all 3 non-conference games and steal a game or two in the Big 12. That would have given us the "Jump Start" we needed going forward. After the last few years, 5 wins would have been HUGE going forward. Optimistic about the future but disappointed at the missed opportunity.

"Let it Be".....at least one of you appreciates true musical genius.
Kansas will be shutout, West Virginia will score 100 points, without their alchohol challenged QB, TCU will be upset, OU vs TT...who cares, OSU vs Nebraska, hopefully every Cornhusker gets carted off on a stretcher, S.Carolina/Georgia,. a toss-up - they both beat Missouri so I'll cheer for both!! :)

Yes, I'm thankful that someone mentioned a song I actually knew. Boy do I feel old.
As for me, it was If You Leave Me Now by Chicago and Reasons by Earth, Wind and Fire. (What can I say, I'm a sucker for ballads. Ah, fond memories of slow dances.)

I am 31 years old and I would still MUCH RATHER listen to real musical genius such as the Beatles. Well, the Beatles actually wrote and played the instruments on their songs, so maybe it's not fair to compare to todays corporate machine/"sampling (stealing)" artists with barely any original thought. Rock Chalk. Hope no KU players get carted off in this football game.....gonna get ugly. :/

I have all of Jesses on my MP3 player. But for me, Van Halen Running with the Devil. Former XC runner, so that was out theme. If we can hang 3 scores (2td, 1 fg) on KSU and hold them under 40, I would say it is a good day.

Ohio State fans are pretty bad, its a funny thing in ohio, the alumni that went to ohio state are pretty nice and for the most part well educated fans. But what makes it unique is graduates from other colleges in the state (youngstown, toledo, ohio u, and other smaller schools) all root for "THE ohio state university"; even when they are playing the school they went to! These are the fans that are obnoxious about how great the buckeyes are year in and year out.
The only conclusion penn state and pittsburg fans have offered to this phenomenon is that ohio sports in general sucks really bad and there are no pro teams that have a legitimate shot at a championship, only the buckeyes.
I know there are ft hays, witchita state or mcpherson college fans out there that may root for the wildcats for Jayhawks, but it is not as extreme as it is in ohio. With that said go huskers and the final four victory (and the regular season win) over ohio state were my highlights of the year.

Kansas sports writers? And none of them have any Kansas's songs as their favorite? What about "Dust In the Wind" or "Point of No Return?" Fire em all.
actorman 7 months, 2 weeks ago
Both classics, especially Dust In the Wind. (Like I said, I'm a sucker for ballads.)
Not so sure about your handle, though, vd.

I didn't know Harry Chapin had a song other than that "Cats in the Cradle" crap! For me, I think high school was all about R.E.M. and 10,000 Maniacs. So I'll go with "I Believe" by R.E.M. As for the Jayhawks, I don't feel good about this weekend at all. But I do think the eye test will say we are considerably improved in a lot of areas over the garbage that Turner put on the field the last two years. And when I say garbage, I'm not pointing at the players. I'm talking about the preparation, etc. I'm pretty frustrated by the 4th quarter this year, but I do think we're getting better. KSU 38, KU 13.

Jesse Newell doesn't know anything about football or sports in general. His ignorance is not needed here.
