Angel Goodrich selected to preseason all-Big 12 team

Kansas senior point guard Angel Goodrich was named to the preseason all-Big 12 team, the conference announced Wednesday.

Goodrich — a Tahlequah, Okla., native — averaged 14 points and an NCAA-leading 7.4 assists per game last season in helping the Jayhawks to a Sweet 16 appearance.

"I’m really excited for Angel and I have so much respect for the coaches in our league and for them to tip their hat to her is quite an honor,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “This league has such elite players and for Angel to be recognized as one of the top-five players in our conference is a testament to the work she has put in and just how talented she is."

KU senior forward Carolyn Davis also was named preseason all-Big 12 honorable mention.

Why on earth is Britney Griner still playing against amateurs? It seems impossible to me that she isn't in the WNBA right now. Can I start a rumor that Baylor pays better than the pros? Oh, it's already started? Good.

WNBA players don't get paid enough to justify leaving school without a diploma. I believe the maximum salary is somewhere around 100k a year which isn't enough to save for a post basketball career so a diploma is something these girls need.

I think I might be able to squeak by on a 100k this year, then go back and get my degree during the 8 month off season. Of course there are probably another 100k in endorsements, maybe more for a player like Griner. Honestly she is probably leaving a 200k or more on the table for waiting another year. She could buy some nice post grad degrees with that kind of lettuce.

Anyway, I don't care much other than I'm a little mad we have to play her again this year. Just when KU is primed for a great season...
