Tyler Roberson, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound senior small forward from Roselle (N.J.) Catholic High School, on Friday signed-a-letter of intent to play basketball at Syracuse. Wasn't Wayne Seldon supposed to sign in a ceremony today?

Even if we don't land anyone else, next year's class is already loaded. Anyone else who signs at this point is just gravy. Good luck at Syracuse, Roberson.

Self can't recruit!!!

Come home, come home, Julius!

Gawd, that guy is powerful! I'm afraid we don't have enough PT to offer him, though.
riverdrifter 6 months, 1 week ago
So, the question is, does he substitute PT to go for for a second tier team as Roberson did?

Syracuse has been a #1 seed two of the past four years and #3 in the others, not to mention their national championship in 2003. They would be on just about any top ten list along with UK, KU, UNC, Duke, UCLA, Indiana, Louisville Florida, and MSU.
Roberson said many things which made it sound like he and/or family wanted him to be close to home. Randle to Texas wouldn't surprise me though, and would agree that Texas is a second tier team.

Second tier? really? You have NO idea about college basketball do yo? Syracuse has always been a very good college team. Dont you remember we lost to them in the championship game a few years ago? As long as Jim Boeheim is coach they will be a good team. We can not get them all.
LAJayhawk 6 months, 1 week ago
Syracuse is currently 5th behind UK, KU, UNC and Dook in all-time wins. If you're calling that second tier.... yeeeeaaaaahhh.... I got nothin' for ya.

We definitely have the PT (assuming you mean playing time and not something like paid transactions). Will Self guarantee him 30+ minutes a night and 15 shots a game? No. But he will be honest and say if he plays anywhere near his potential then he will be a featured player on a champship level squad.
Also, I don't think a player like Julius is worried about playing time. He knows he will see the floor plenty wherever he goes.

Roberson threw everyone a curve with Syrexcuse. Maybe the former Syrexcuse assistant coach being cleared on accusations about inappropriate sexual conduct with boys freed Roberson up to a deep preference for the color orange?
Has anyone noticed whether or not Boeheim has commented on the the issue with the former assistant coach? Is he being reinstated?

The Feds dropped the investigation. They said there was not enough evidence to support a claim that the Bernie Fine had molested a boy in a Pittsburgh hotel room in 2002. Closing the investigation doesn't necessarily imply nothing happened.
Something did seem to have happened with the initial accuser - at the very least extreme family dysfunction (wife's telephone recordings, etc.). But I think 3 out of the 4 accusers turned out to be lies / hoax - one of them a very poor excuse for a Kansas fan, who was still bitter about 2003.
It's unclear whether Fine could get his job back. The bigger question at Cuse probably is how much longer will Boeheim coach. For an OAD or 2-AD it's probably a moot point.
Your comments as related to Roberson's decision come across as juvenile sour grapes. C'mon Jaybate, you're better than that.
In Roberson's case, I'm not sure playing time was the whole issue, although his path is pretty clear at this point. He sent lots of signals that he wanted to stay close to home. I predicted Nova, but Syracuse is only 3-4 hours up the road, and in the same time zone. Kris Joseph and Fab Melo just got sent to the D-League, but they DID get drafted, and Boeheim gives a green light to jump to the league.

He fooled me. The way his comments were written up I thought he was headed for Villanova for sure.

We lost a game already this year too. We need to fire Bill Self.

With Selden coming another Sf isn't coming along, but lets face it, we are stacked. This years team will get better as the season progresses and next years's additions will make us scary. I still am curious about Connor playing the PG spot for us. At this moment I'm not sold on Tharpe taking over so I hope it's an open completion next year, but we've got a scary team being built.

In lieu of the recent conflict in Israel / Gaza, I vote referring to Bill Selfs' defense as the "iron dome".........
Currently we are 70% effective.

As much as I wanted Tyler, Jo Jo signing was really the more important. With Perry, Wesley, Zach, Jamari, Landen and Jo Jo we're in pretty good shape on the front line.
This does, however, open the door for a power OAD [ Julius...come on down!!!]
drgnslayr 6 months, 1 week ago
I never really thought Tyler would want to play way out here in the wild west.
We may think of Kansas being in the middle of the country... but visit the east coast and ask somebody there where Kansas is.
jgkojak 6 months, 1 week ago
Not concerned. If he'd rather play for a conference-hopping, coach is retiring soon, Penn State junior (Asst Coach sex scandals) - let him. Obviously either wanted something close to home or had some boosters make him aware of how he'd benefit.
