Edmond, Okla. — Former Kansas University golfer Chris Thompson took second place at the Oklahoma Open on Sunday after losing a playoff to Matt VanCleave at the Oak Tree Country Club East Course.

Thompson, who was tied for the lead going into the final round, led by two strokes with three holes left on Sunday. He fell to a tie with VanCleave after carding a double-bogey on the par-4 16th hole.
