KU soccer takes down No. 24 Georgia

Kansas University junior Caroline Kastor scored the game’s only goal in the 22nd minute as the KU soccer team beat No. 24 Georgia on Friday at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

It was the Jayhawks’ first home win and first shutout against a ranked opponent since the 2009 season.

Kastor’s goal was her second of the year and 11th of her career.

The Jayhawks (2-1) outshot the Bulldogs (2-1), 11-9, including a 3-2 edge on net. Kastor and sophomore Jamie Fletcher led the team with four shots each. The teams combined for 26 fouls.

Kansas will meet UNLV at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Lawrence.

I like that they won. I like that they had more shots on goal and battled in a physical contest. Nice job ladies.

Too bad they couldn't beat Georgia at home last year.

Pretty good to beat #24 Georgia without 4 projected starters in the lineup. Dickerson - Injury, Robbins - U20 World Cup, Salazar- ?????, Vidal - ???????? Think how good we will be when some of them return to the lineup. :)
