Kansas volleyball flies past Northwestern State

— The Kansas University volleyball team rolled past Northwestern State, 25-12, 25-14, 25-18, in its season opener Friday afternoon at the Arkansas Invitational.

Kansas (1-0) held Northwestern State (0-1) to a .019 attack percentage, while the Jayhawks had a .364, including a .412 in the second set.

“We were very efficient offensively, and that was without passing the ball that well on first contact,” coach Ray Bechard said. “Once we got the ball to our attackers, I thought we had some great balance. This year, we’re really spreading that out.”

Junior middle blocker Caroline Jarmoc set the tone with 12 kills. Sophomores Sara McClinton (10 kills) and Chelsea Albers (nine) led the way on the outsides.

KU plays Tennessee-Martin at 1:30 p.m. today.
