KU baseball falls, 7-2

? Texas managed just six hits, but manufactured seven runs to upend Kansas University, 7-2, in the final game of a Big 12 baseball series Sunday at Disch-Falk Field.

After losing the opener, UT (23-14 overall, 11-4 Big 12) won the series, two games to one.

Kansas (16-25, 4-11) opened Sunday’s game with a two-run first, but went scoreless the rest of the way.

The 23rd-ranked Longhorns won it with a four-fun fifth.

Despite losing the series, Kansas remained seventh in the league after Kansas State (3-12 Big 12) and Texas Tech (3-12) were swept in weekend series.

The top eight teams qualify for the Big 12 tournament.

Sunday, Tucker Tharp had two of KU’s four hits and scored a run. Chris Manship scored KU’s other run on a balk.

Thomas Taylor (4-5) took the loss after allowing four runs (all earned) off three hits over 42/3 innings.

Kansas will host Kansas State in a nonconference game at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
