Columbia, Mo. — Kansas University claimed both the men’s and women’s team titles at the Missouri Cross Country Challenge on Saturday morning.

KU senior Rebeka Stowe led the women by winning the second individual title of her career, while red-shirt freshman James Wilson led the men’s pack, placing second.

“It was a great effort by both the men and women today,” KU coach Stanley Redwine said. “I thought they competed well as a team, and some of the things we did poorly last weekend, we did a much better job of doing this week. To win both (races) was really good.”

The women placed 1-2 in the race that was held at A.L Gustin Golf Course, Missouri’s home course. Leading the way was Stowe, who took home the second individual title of her career, the first coming in 2009 at the Bob Timmons Classic. Fellow senior Kara Windisch claimed the runner-up spot, which was the best of her college career.

“It’s really exciting,” Stowe said. “Last night and this morning I was thinking about how this is my last year and I wanted to start out on a good note individually and with the team. We executed how we were supposed to and it’s exciting.”

Both teams will have a two-week break before they travel to the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis.
