Former Kansas University cornerback and current Tampa Bay Buccaneer Aqib Talib has been indicted on a charge accusing him of firing a gun at his sister's boyfriend.
Attorneys for Talib said the fourth-year player was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by a Dallas County grand jury on Friday.
Police in the Dallas suburb of Garland have said they believe Talib and his mother shot at the man in March. The man was not injured. Talib is out of jail on $25,000 bond.
Attorneys Jay Reisinger and Frank Perez say they're confident Talib will be cleared because the grand jury "was not privy to a number of important facts."
Talib played football at a high school in Richardson, another Dallas suburb, and at KU.

Well, here was hoping to a calmer summer this year. Not a good start.

not good, but i can't believe they both shot at the same guy at the same time. doesn't really make sense. for Aqib's sake, i hope it was his mother only.....god bless it, if it was neither. but it sounds like somebody did.
He will either make a great comeback....or his career is now over. i just hope his life won't be over.

just once i want to read a headline, 'KU star saves child from drowning" or something of the like. starting to feel like we are the university of miami in the 80's.

... without the success.

Well at least we know that Aqib nor his mom can hit the side of a barn with a gun. Seriously what kind of people go around shooting at other people. It doesn't make any sense.

Unfortunately, we will never see another Aquib Talib in the TG era.

And even if we do, we probably won't be able to spell his name correctly.

Best player I've seen at KU since Nolan Cromwell. Too bad he is so poor at making real-life decisions.

will have to disagree. while he had a lot of talent, he spent much of his time showboating and ducking tackles. i recall one game against a low tier opponent when he spent most of a time-out mouthing off to a receiver opposite. when the time-out ended, the receive blew by him for a touchdown pass. he deserted KU. I hope he never receives another paycheck for sports.

Aqib is accused of firing a gun at his sister's boyfriend after the boyfriend beat her up and did not let her call police. The boyfriend apparently did a number on her. Aqib and his mom's response was firing a gun in his direction but not at him, to tell him to leave. Aqib's mom has a felony conviction on her record and therefore is not allowed to be in possession of a weapon. The LJWorld needs to report for facts in this case instead of leaving others to go to ESPN to find out the main details.

This guy is not only a potential annual Pro Bowler, he could conceivably have a Hall of Fame career. He is that good. It is "outside the lines" that will prevent these achievments and possibly end a career. This isn't his first problem while with the Bucs, and despite his talent, at some point they don't really care how good you are because you become a PR liability which is critical in the NFL. Get the "black flag" from the NFL corporate offices, and again, no matter how good nobody will touch you. He better grow up quick because he is flirting with the demise of his career.

He'll be pushing a broom in prison in the near future. If not for this incident for another one in his future.
