Baylor’s Jones to miss five games if he stays

— Perry Jones will miss the first five games next season if he stays at Baylor after an NCAA reinstatement committee on Thursday upheld an earlier ruling that declared the standout freshman ineligible.

Jones is projected to be one of the top picks in the NBA Draft.

As part of Thursday’s ruling, Jones must also repay at least $700 in impermissible benefits. That included a trip to California last August to attend an NFL preseason game before he began classes at Baylor.

He will not stay. He will go in the top 10. This article has no business being in this paper. Too funny!

The top ten picks are the guys who stand to lose the most if there is an NBA stoppage. It's likely we see nearly 100% of the lottery underclassmen stay another year.

BTW, that's REALLY good for KU. If the Morrii, TRob, Selby and TTT all stay another year, the Hawks will be a locomotive.

On the other hand. I forgot that it may even be more likely that guys like Markieff and TRob could actually jump League when they might normally have stayed. Since all the lottos might wait it out in college, lower first round talent could see the chance to move up into lotto territory.

Should be interesting.

yeah, too bad he couldn't play NOW and then take the supension next year. oh wait, Baylor isn't THE ohio state university. yet another GLARING example of the BS that is the nc2a.

would like to see the colleges pull together to ignore this group and start one that is vastly less narcissistic and self-serving.

what a crock of bull$h!t.

I don't agree that this story doesn't belong in the paper, but Jones isn't staying at Baylor to play for the incompetent Drew. He'll be a Top 10 pick and making millions whenever the league and players get done with their disagreement.
