Wait. The headline says that they'll play on Friday but the text says Thursday. Thursday makes more sense based on the scheduling but you might want to double check.

Yep. Thursday is right. Sorry about that.

Game is Thursday...LJW affected by sunspots

bradynsdad 8 years, 9 months ago

Yeah it is kind of confusing. Maybe just put up a schedule of the bracket.

I dont really like playing at 11:30AM but its good practice for the first two games of the tournament because you never know what time you will have to play...Luckily I will be able to watch on Thursday.

Nebraska is a bad match up for Kansas -- Doc Sadler is a great coach too.

Be on your toes Hawks!

ahpersecoachingexperience 8 years, 9 months ago

If doc's a great coach why does his team always play on the first day of the tourney?

Mandie Eutsler 8 years, 9 months ago

Considering they don't have too much talent...

ahpersecoachingexperience 8 years, 9 months ago

Why don't talented players want to play for such a great coach?

Spencer Goff 8 years, 9 months ago

Sadler is a solid coach.

Has far more to do with where he coaches as opposed to how he coaches.

What would be your main selling point at Nebraska right now to any bigtime recruit?

"Sometimes we are on national TV... When we play KU."

"You can watch Bo Pelini get jacked about something every two minutes."

"If you manage to upset UT the fans will really get behind your program.... At least for the next couple of days or until they are sober, whichever happens first."

"If you fail to develop past your high school ability, not to worry, the fans here probably won't notice you anyway."

"See that newly shined and repainted spot above us? We are hoping to hang some kind of banner there. Any banner, something..."

Yeah, I can see Sadler really selling NU to any elite young player.

86, I was going to write the same thing. Nebraska shows times of brilliance, but, unfortunately for them, is at times followed up with ineptness. No doubt they'll come to play, and we all know it's pretty tough to beat a team 3 times in one season. Be ready to play boys because you know Nebraska will be.

Swap Mizzou and OSU and the brackets are north and south. That is, 5 of 6 teams in each half are from the same division. We've already seen 'em twice.

Has the LJ World / KUSports.com team been affected by sunspots as well?? :)

Hawks may get another shot at Kstate in the semis and texas in the final. wow, this could actually be an interesting conf. tourney.

leonard 8 years, 9 months ago

Just curious...anyone know the rationale from the Big12 office that has the number 1 seed playing at 11:30AM? Same thing last year.

Same goes for the semi's...the team playing in through the number 1 slot doesn't get the feature game.

kupride4u 8 years, 9 months ago

I'm guessing so it gives them the most rest if they keep winning.

Jim Roth 8 years, 9 months ago

I always assumed (cynically) it's for TV ratings. That game is most likely to be a blowout, so they have teams that are more evenly matched play later when more viewers are able to tune in.

The Hawks are a #1 seed regarless of the B12 tourny performance. BUT if they keep playing "soft" they won't advance very far in the NCAA tourny, just like last year's team that won everything until they saw pressure against N. Iowa.

leonard 8 years, 9 months ago

If you're referring to the Mizzou game...I'll have to disagree.

Destroying MU on the glass and strangling their offense by holding them to 29% shooting is not playing soft.

I'll agree that at times this season we have looked soft...but the last 2 games exhibited a toughness fitting for tourney pressure. Many of our wins have been of the "pretty" variety...but the last 2 showed our ability to slog through hard fought affairs that required more guts than prettiness.

Spencer Goff 8 years, 9 months ago

Agreed.

Mizzou at home and Mizzou anywhere else are two different animals. The Jayhawks also put aside some really dumbass calls in that game. I thought Self was going to get T'd up by Oglesby, Coach was pretty fired up.

I'm just happy that the Big 12 tournament doesn't end on Sunday. I'm very happy that the conference made the switch to ending the tournament on Saturday.
