Former KU track athlete, Ottawa native, gets her first rose on ABC's "The Bachelor"

Ottawa's Lisa Morrisey was a standout on KU's track team before getting picked for this round of "The Bachelor" on ABC. Morrisey made the cut during the first episode of "The Bachelor" on Monday night. The next episode airs Monday night.

The 15th season of “The Bachelor” opened to the show’s second lowest ratings ever for a premiere, but folks in Lawrence have every reason to tune in to the season’s second episode: Lisa Morrisey.

The Ottawa native and former Kansas University track standout was one of 20 women to receive a rose from bachelor Brad Womack on the show, which appears at 7 p.m. on ABC.

Viewers didn’t get to see too much of “Lisa M.,” but enough to know that she happened to be wearing ruby shoes to display her Kansas roots. The show had auditions in Shawnee this summer.

Neat that she's proud of her Kansas roots, but I question her judgment going on that show, unless it's a total lark or publicity stunt. What's the success rate of those marriages again? Single digit percentage?

Publicity stunt? If you KNEW her, you would know that's not true. Ever heard of taking a chance or being spontaneous? It's the chance of a life time and so... why not?!

She's a lovely lady, to be sure. I just don't understand the attraction to being on the show. Sooner or later, she's gonna end up in the tub, locking tongues with a dude who's locking tongues with 5 other girls in the same episode. Stay long enough, you get the "overnight" with the dude "overnighting" with 2 or 3 others--and eventually, you're actually mad if he doesn't pick you, or HAPPY if he does!

At least you do it on national TV for everybody to see you make a fool of yourself.

Total agreement, longhawk, that was my point exactly - I just didn't include the details you did. She is pretty and probably has a great personality, but again, I'm just saying I question her judgment, given the outcomes of the previous seasons.

Hopefully some posters above can learn to distinguish between being pretty and nice versus having common sense.
