Former BYU quarterback Jake Heaps will transfer to Kansas, JayhawkSlant.com is reporting.

Heaps, will have to sit out a year because of transfer rules, will be eligible to play two years at KU.

Heaps was ranked Rivals.com's No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2010.

The news follows the announcement earlier Thursday that former Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist would transfer to KU next season.

yeah but i still havent heard anyone complain about how he still won't put names on the jerseys yet. there's always something to improve on.

Andy Tweedy 8 years, 5 months ago

They may be dissappointed...don't recall seeing any names on the Notre Dame jerseys!!! But you're right...if he puts them on the jerseys, people will want them on the socks!

Jayhawk1116 8 years, 5 months ago

No big deal. Notre Dame never has names on their jerseys. I'm sure Weis will have them.

Andy Tweedy 8 years, 5 months ago

Personally, I like them, I just think people made too big a deal out of not having them.

fearsadness14 8 years, 5 months ago

i agree, rc90. I kind of like them, and I think people were looking for ANYTHING to complain about under gill's tenure.

Luke Kay 8 years, 5 months ago

I do kinda wish they would put them back on... It would have made it a lot easier scream the name of the guy who blew coverage last season. HAHA kidding.... But they are in college and playing on a D1 program is a big deal to these kids... I dont think a name on the back of a jersey hurts anything

doc1 8 years, 5 months ago

Actually as a former player when it comes to recruiting those kids want their names on their Jersey. It's a big factor believe itor not.

JayHok 8 years, 5 months ago

Haha, the Seattle Times and Wiki are now out reporting the Topeka Capital Journal! Is the TCJ being run by Bill Snyder? If so great job Snyder, the handcuffs on your editors and writers are working!

Wouldn't want a Weis-Crist-Heaps buzz to begin between Lawrence and the Rockies. That's too many Kansas kids that would read about this!

Great job Topeka Capital Journal, the Pravda has returned!

a la John McEnroe..."You can NOT be SERIOUS!" Two QBs in a day? Jordan Webb...you served Kansas as best you could. It's difficult to say "It's not personal", because in the end, a player breathes and bleeds like the rest of us. But in college football, it's about putting the best personnel on the field, so I wish you well in your endeavors without malice. Nevertheless, it's time to move over for Charlie Weis and Co.

...and Jaybate says CW was a mistake. You guys oughtta be careful about swallowing what he says whole. You're liable to choke.

Andy Tweedy 8 years, 5 months ago

One of Jaybate's basketball posts is 2,000 times longer than all his football posts put together. I think you have to be a KU football fan first before you get any street cred here.

Joe Ross 8 years, 5 months ago

Yes, and I have problems both with the frequency of his ridiculously lengthy posts which screams he doesn't have a life, and his feigning knowledge he is not the rightful proprietor of.

jaybate 8 years, 5 months ago

This is a freaking joke.

Crist has 1 lousy year of eligibility, bad knees and only started 10 games in 3 years for a rebuilding ND recovering from Weis' 35-27 stumble in South Bend.

And Weis may not be able to hold Jordan Webb?

Please tell me there is a Benedictine monastery hiding the real QB Charles is going to rely on. Please.

And for icing we get Jake "I couldn't cut it at BYU" Heaps? Heaps might help, if he can wear some risers, but not for another year!

Well, lads and lassies, sure'n ol'Chollies gonna take this team to either the American Standard Bowl, or the Kohler Bowl next year.

Yeeeee hawwwwww!

Your glasses are fogged up as usual, jaybate. Go to sleep. It'll all be better in the morning.

sloppyscience 8 years, 5 months ago

Go cheer for Kentucky. The fan revolution has started...we demand a good football team and we're cutting the dead weight that is all you 'one-sporters'. You're not wanted here anymore. And I know you hate Kentucky, so maybe you can still find room on the ever growing Indiana bandwagon.

Ps- you just got served

Eric Dawson 8 years, 5 months ago

Hey, IU is finally looking good again, don't burden them with jaybate.

Send him to Creighton, that way he won't have to change his name.

LAJayhawk 8 years, 5 months ago

Jaybate,

Again, with all due respect, if he took us to ANY bowl, it would be a MASSIVE improvement. Massive.

I'm not really sure what your purpose is in all this negativity toward Weis and the football program. I know you care about your University, but I also know you don't follow football very closely. And to be quite honest, a lot of what you say does come across as a bit ignorant. Of course, you are entitled to your opinion, and I'm not telling you not to say it. But there is a reason why a significant number disagree with you.

Take that for what it's worth.

Micky Baker 8 years, 5 months ago

Where does it imply any where in the story that Weis can't hold onto Web? You have to be seriously dishonest to read that into this thing.

Paul Livingston 8 years, 5 months ago

I think it's funny that a supposed KU fan is knocking BYU football. You do realize that BYU has a storied history of producing quality quarterbacks right? And if you wouldn't mind looking up BYU's recent success against Big 12 teams (something that KU, a member of the Big 12, can't claim) then you might be more enlightened. The reason Heaps is transferring isn't because he wasn't good enough, it's because he didn't want to have to beat anybody out for a starting job, which he never would have to do here at KU. I go to KU, been a KU fan my whole life, but I've also been a BYU fan my whole life and watched virutally every snap that Jake Heaps took and the kid has more talent in his non-throwing arm than Jordan Webb does in his whole body.

waywardJay 8 years, 5 months ago

Ehh, Forget about the words that are coming out of Jross's mouth.. They are in the end only mitigating hot air from his Lungs that otherwise be spent being put to a greater us like letting oxygen flow to his brain. For anyone who doesn't know, Jross, while occasionally topically proficient, he is often someone who holds grudges. This isn't about Jaybate's thoughts on Charlie Weiss. This is about JRoss's thoughts on Freedom of Speech, more accurately, Freedom of artistic expression. You see, Jross has hated on Jaybate ever since Jaybate started blogging picture-art the photogs our superbly talented Photography staff has take of in game events, and making his own expression. JRoss, someone who uses the Blog-o-sphere to dispense his own personal musings got offended because of Jaybate's artistic side.

The truth of the matter here is, Jross would probably argue with Jaybate if he said....

(after picking myself up off the floor) ... WOW! A top rated QB for next fall and another for the next two years after that!?! This is KUsports.com, right? While the QB isn't the only issue, one only needs to look at teams (college or pro) without a strong QB and what it means.

Looking forward to more good news on the defensive side as well!

David Lara 8 years, 5 months ago

Hey, not that the battle for starting time is over before it starts, but if Brock doesn't start at QB let's hope he can follow in the steps of Kerry Meier and Kale Pick and bring some hands and route running skills with him. We could use another 6'3" slot/possession receiver. No sense in wasting his athleticism. Again, the QB spot is by no means said and done, but things like this can certainly work out for the best.

rockchalknation 8 years, 5 months ago

Congratulations Jake! Best wishes to you and your wife as you transition to KU. This should make for a tremendous spring as yourself and Dayne Crist can push each other everyday. ltownatrain 8 years, 5 months ago

no but it may sway some big names who will count towards the ranking. Besides rankings are contrite...K-State doesn't ever seem to have high ranking classes but of course Snyder built the program around transfers and they are 10-2.

Sam Brockert 8 years, 5 months ago

that is true, I was merely pointing it out, not saying it was really bad, just saying it was a would be nice, not a must have.

Holy cow! While I'm readin' and celebratin' about Dayne Crist (a little behind the rest of you) this story pops up. Unbelieeeeeeevable.

Dan Pawlowski 8 years, 5 months ago

Ok folks. Knock it off with the names on the jersey topic. You are educated, I assume. You know how to recognize your numbers , at least up to 100. Now if you were to put just a little effort into it you might be able to match a name to a number. They publish who is wearing what number you know. Quite being lazy.

tical523 8 years, 5 months ago

I do agree if you are arguing that you can not identify or recognize the players without names because you can hardly read names from the seats anyway and it is not that hard to remember number / position / body size and type to know what player it is. But it seems there are other reasons, I guess mainly players want their names on the jerseys and it is good for recruiting. Am I right?

Andy Tweedy 8 years, 5 months ago

I have never understood how it's good for recruiting. Notre Dame, USC, Penn State. Those schools have way more tradition, but I just don't believe it's that big of a deal. When D Miller was being recruited last year by some pretty good schools, I never heard him mention it as a problem. Maybe I'm naive, but I just don't get it... Now, I personally like the names on the jerseys, but I never lost any sleep about it.

kef104 8 years, 5 months ago

Boulder, it is not about being lazy. KU football does not have a large core following. If you want to get the fringe, marginal, or new to the excitement truly involved they need/prefer easy ways to figure out who they like and who just made an awesome play. The same can be said for the games announcers. Also, there seems to be a bit of pride in knowing that your name is there for all to see. Pride does enhance performance.

Would you suggest the BBall team drop the names from their jerseys? They are needed even less as there are far fewer players and you almost never trade out players as possessions change. Why bother with them? Heck, let everybody wear a mask so they all look alike. Seriously, we like names, and I bet the players do as well.

Dan Pawlowski 8 years, 5 months ago

Nope , its being lazy. If the basketball team were to drop the names than so be it. If you can't recognize 10 -15 guys on a basketball team (with help from numbers) than I guess you don't really follow "your" team.

kef104 8 years, 5 months ago

What an interesting world you must live in. Only "true" fans should ever watch a game, whether it be live or on television. No need to accommodate anyone who does not fit your sense of being a "true" fan, including the players. Personally, I find it lazy that people do not know their way around town. We have no real need for road signs either. It is easy enough to use maps and count blocks. I am sure you are never lazy in any form, always looking for the most complicated/difficult way to prove you have the time and dedication to be better than anyone else. Good for you! I would not even dare to ask if you grow all your own food from scratch, heck, everyone knows how lazy it is to do otherwise. I feel sorry for those that have to live with you. Enjoy your private view of the world.

Dan Pawlowski 8 years, 5 months ago

Gee seems I struck a nerve. Not once did I say that only true fans should watch the game. It appears your rage clouds your ability to read. I suggest therapy.

Todd 8 years, 5 months ago

I haven't made the argument on here for or against names, but I am for the names. For this past year and some past years it was needed because there are duplicate numbers. Yes, you should know who the QB or RB or maybe a WR is, but sometimes they might put in a backup and nobody knows who it is or they might look similar to the other person who has the same number.

ltownatrain 8 years, 5 months ago

It just might be getting better....Posted on Brice Butlers Twitter account about 30 minutes ago:

Just have to fix up that eyesore of a stadium now...

Andy Tweedy 8 years, 5 months ago

I think the stadium is fine, it's the field and the open end that are a disgrace. Get rid of that damn track, close in the stands and PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, REMOVE THOSE BARCALOUNGERS AND THAT INFLATABLE JAYHAWK TUNNEL!!!

Dan Pawlowski 8 years, 5 months ago

oh here we go again the broken "get rid of the track" record. Put a good team on the damn field and don't worry about the track. If the biggest worry of the fans is the track than we have bigger issues.

Jayhawk1116 8 years, 5 months ago

Dude, to even suggest closing the open end and obstructing the view of the hill is absolute blasphemy. And to suggest it's a "disgrace" is even worse! Track, barcaloungers, and inflatable tunnel -- totally agree. I'd like to see them complete the upper deck in the bowl instead.

texashawk10 8 years, 5 months ago

You can't see anything from the hill anymore because of the new videoboard so putting some permanent seating at the south end of the stadium isn't going to ruin anything at this point.

JHawk06 8 years, 5 months ago

Great Point +1 Our upgraded facilities are so important when recruiting these kids.

But yea at least a little stadium touch up would be nice

Casey Gee 8 years, 5 months ago

Yesterday KU had never had a 5 star quarterback to my knowledge. Today we have 2. I think its safe to say HCCW can recruit to kansas. Now I want to start hearing some defensive names (coaches and players).

timecronk 8 years, 5 months ago

I'm a lifelong KU fan and BYU alum--Heaps was a pretty big disappointment this year, getting benched about midway through the season for poor play. He hasn't lived up to expectations so far, but I sure hope this will help him turn it around.

Benjamin Piehler 8 years, 5 months ago

I know what you mean, though there is euphoria abound right now; we can't quite pack out bowling shoes yet... Both QBs had on the field issues. That being said, it's still probably the single biggest recruiting day for KUFB ever.

JayHok 8 years, 5 months ago

There's a reason these five stars want to play for Weis. Go onto the NBC boards and see why. He develops and knows the NFL. Weis isn't star struck with players like this, it's what he expects. Look at what he did for Tom Brady's development. The guy is an offensive genius.

Even as a first year OC at Florida, he started out 4-0, to only lose his first and second string QB. Still Florida made a bowl even using a 3rd string QB that couldn't throw much further than ten yards.

RCJ Weis!

Yea, let's hope it's a long career...but I'd bet he doesn't stay for his whole contract. Still though, who cares.

ltownatrain 8 years, 5 months ago

Well if weis doesn't stay his whole contract then he owes KU money. If I remember it's guaranteed money, however, if either side breaks the contract before the 5th year they owe the other 2.5 million and 1.5 million after that. Because of this I would bet money that weis stays unless someone all of a sudden forked over 4-5 million a year guaranteed.

alfie 8 years, 5 months ago

The DC has already been picked just waiting till after the bowl game is over....

Ron Prichard 8 years, 5 months ago

Holy $#!%!!! I can't ever remember being this excited about football in late December!

Right now in the Big XII, as far as national publicity and discussion of football/recruiting/etc:

  1. Texas (as always)
  2. OSU (due to NC snub and BCS bowl)
  3. KU
  4. Baylor (RG3, RG3, RG3).
  5. KSU (Snyder, Snyder, Snyder)
  6. Everyone else, including OU.

In the span of two weeks, KU went from total afterthough in football to totally relevant. If we can get a solid DC, which I believe is coming, then we could turn this thing around very quickly. People tend to forget that our team actually had some talent this year. They just weren't coached very well at all. A couple 4* players on both sides of the ball already in Keeston Terry, McDougald (?), Miller (man, I really, really, really hope he stays) & Pierson. Saying this team is capable of six wins and a bowl next year is not at all overly optimistic.

Keep 'em coming, Coach Weis!! RCJH!!

Ron Prichard 8 years, 5 months ago

Just to clarify, I was not ranking the teams in the Big XII, but rather ranking their national exposure and the amount of national discussion they are generating right now.

Tim Orel 8 years, 5 months ago

Um, you weren't this excited as the Jayhawks prepared to play in the Orange Bowl just a few short years ago? I sure was more excited that year.

Joe Studebaker 8 years, 5 months ago

Fantastic news and now it is time for the Hawks to come out of the cellar. The sky is clearing up!!! I don't remember the last time I was this excited about football when the basketball team is knocking on the door to league play! Love it!!

ltownatrain 8 years, 5 months ago

I believe the last time would have been the 2008 Orange Bowl!

Andy Tweedy 8 years, 5 months ago

I know it's not good to defend ANYTHING that HCTG did while he was here, and I'm glad he's gone. Heaps is a nice pickup, but what gets me just as excited is the abundance of big bodies Gill brought in through his recruiting. With that many O-linemen in the house, it's not unreasonable to expect enough to work out and give our new saviour time to throw! And between Sims, Bourbon, Pierson, and maybe Miller, we have a pretty nice start on offense.

JayHok 8 years, 5 months ago

Any five star fast as lightening receivers that can poached or aren't signed yet?

If Weis gets a couple of those, Look out!

Andy Tweedy 8 years, 5 months ago

Not sure how closely you follow recruiting, so if I'm laying out the obvious, I don't mean it to be condescending. I only follow it a little myself, but the number one receiver prospect in the country is from Springfield, MO and is uncommitted. He has a hyphenated name, someone mentioned it above. Not sure how realistic it is, but that would indeed be sweet!

JayHok 8 years, 5 months ago

We want the Springfield, MO 5-star receiver!

Greg Ledom 8 years, 5 months ago

I believe Frank Suerer was a 5 star QB. He was certainly one of the top QBs out of high school. In addition, a 5 star running back came with him. That would be Kerwin Bell. One of the best I had seen play at Kansas until he blew out his knee, and then was never the same. Coach Fam brought them in. Needless to say, there haven't been many.

JayHok 8 years, 5 months ago

This would be a really great read if the LJW could figure out the story. I feel like it's one or none in the history of KU. As great as Sayers, Riggins, Hadl were, I don't think rankings were around back then. Sayers surely would have been.

RCJ Zenger!

gardenjay 8 years, 5 months ago

Frank Suerer was fun to watch. He had an arm. I think that's what we're looking at here. Waiting makes this type of thing all the more ....precious? I guess Gollum ruined that word, but something like that.

Bob Forer 8 years, 5 months ago

Neither Seurer nor Bell were five stars, although Seurer came highly touted and was a top recruit. Bell had a great freshman year when he rushed for over 1,000 yards, but a myriad of injuries, including a severe case of turf toe, severely limited his playing time thereafter. He never blew out his knee.

Do either of these guys play rush end? No, then I'm not that interested.

How about some guys who can play defense, maybe tackle someone, or, perhaps get a defensive coordinator.

Lance Cheney 8 years, 5 months ago

Yeah, because QB is really not that important of a position in football. Name me one team that won a superbowl with a good QB...

Benjamin Piehler 8 years, 5 months ago

Gotta start somewhere. Good receivers and linesman want to catch passes from/defend a good QB. Plus, a good QB can cover up a multitude of sins on either side of the ball.

Andy Tweedy 8 years, 5 months ago

Fair points, but a good offense will keep that leaky defense off the field!

texashawk10 8 years, 5 months ago

Without Todd Reesing, KU doesn't win 8 games in 2008 or 5 games in 2009. Without RG3, Baylor doesn't win 9 (possibly 10) games this year. A competent QB can mask many of the deficiencies a team has including a bad defense.

JHawk06 8 years, 5 months ago

Totally agree, but we did have a solid D in 2008.

waywardJay 8 years, 5 months ago

Excellent point.

Not to step on other's points, A good Quarterback can hide a bad defense, a decent running game with a good quarterback can make a bad defense look legit ( See Patriots, New England )

I want the Christmas break to hurry up and get over with. Time to get to work for all the returning Jhawk football players. No fun now can turn in to big fun in the fall of 2012 if Kansas can learn how to work and win.

colreader 8 years, 5 months ago

I'm glad Heaps left BYU.........so why didn't he want to stay anymore? Did something change at BYU? Or was it all Coach Weis?

Maurice E. King III 8 years, 5 months ago

Now "WE" KU fans need to bring a few friends and pack the house for every KU football home game!!! Keep the recruiting momentum going and inspire this team to compete and win. Go Charlie Go!!! Prove the doubters wrong.

gardenjay 8 years, 5 months ago

need to cover the hill as well, get it up to 80,000 gameday shows and we'll have an atmosphere.

Dan Pawlowski 8 years, 5 months ago

Thats the spirit. Don't let the lack names on the uniforms deter you. Apparently it is too tough on a lot of our fans.

Maurice E. King III 8 years, 5 months ago

If the Big XII ever lets us know what the schedule is next year.

Andy Tweedy 8 years, 5 months ago

It actually might be kind of nice if WVU is made to wait one more year, then we could schedule another win. Not sure WVU would be that win!!!

Welcome t o the Jayhawk nation Jake. Rock chalk great day to be a Jayhawk

James McGuire 8 years, 5 months ago

Great day to be a Jayhawk. Every day is, but this is awesome.

ChiJayhawk4 8 years, 5 months ago

Welcome Jake! You will love Lawrence. . .

Mike Ross 8 years, 5 months ago

Over / Under of wins/losses for the Hawks in the next 3 years = 20 wins? That would double our production from the last 3 years. Thoughts?

troutsee 8 years, 5 months ago

Just got home from work and went immediately to this site....and.....and....wow.

Jordon Webb is a gutsy QB and I hope he stays, but if he wants to play, he'll probab ly transfer. However, he is a hell of a competitor and he just might stay and compete for the job. I wish him the best whatever he decides to do.

As for Gill, he put his heart and soul into KU FB and really did a great job recruiting. I hope he does well at Liberty. He clearly was not ready for the B12.

On the other hand, Weis clearly is ready for the B12 and I really do not see him moving on. He knew that there would be challenges in his family life by taking the KU job, but he wants to prove that he can coach and recruit on a national level. He was disappointed and hurt by the ND dismissal. This is an "in-your-face-Notre Dame-time" for Charlie Weis. Go get 'em, Charlie. You can be damn sure that the Jayhawk nation is aching for a consistent winner in football and it looks like you are too. It also looks like you have the determination and the work ethic to make it happen. We are behind you.

This is a big day for KUFB

JayHok 8 years, 5 months ago

Love Webb. He's forever a Jayhawk. But can he do this?

Neither can I!

RCJ Zenger!

JayHawkFanToo 8 years, 5 months ago

Can you cite one credible source for your statement?

blackhawkjayhawk 8 years, 5 months ago

Other than Weis, you know who must be one of the happiest people in Lawrence today? Reggie Mitchell. I'm not sure how involved he was with the two QB's, but he's got to me smiling from ear-to-ear right now. If you give a guy who can recruit like him this sort of momentum, who the heck knows what might be possible in recruiting this year?

kubballgal 8 years, 5 months ago

Yessssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crist and Heaps Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!!!

Justin Lindsley 8 years, 5 months ago

WOW!!! what a difference a coach makes!!!

manginodrh00lz 8 years, 5 months ago

Somewhere in Manhattan a gray haired man was sitting at his desk and inexplicably shuddered.

Randy Bombardier 8 years, 5 months ago

Somewhere in Manhattan there is a little gray-haired man talking to Jordan Webb and telling him he has the tools to win the Big12 and more...and he does.

ahpersecoachingexperience 8 years, 5 months ago

Really? Cause the only big 12 game j Webb started and won in two years was against CU.

(think back to that game. then you'll get what I'm saying)

texashawk10 8 years, 5 months ago

You might want to double check the box score from that Colorado game to see who the QB was that game.

shufly 8 years, 5 months ago

Enough with the track. If we must, dig up the track, convert to a moat to keep the fans from storming the field and tell the NCAA "look what good boys we are"

97jhawk 8 years, 5 months ago

Well, looks like only bad things come in 3's. First Crist, then Heaps. Duaron Williams just picked Iowa St. He said they have a great fanbase. Unreal. Wonder if he ever went to a game there or went to Ames. Maybe he never saw the stat about ISU that there are three guys for every girl at ISU. Oh well.

Bangkok_Jayhawk 8 years, 5 months ago

Fantastic way to wake up this morning in Bangkok!!!! ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!

TexasHawk44 8 years, 5 months ago

Wow! Great day for KU Football and HCCW!!! Very nice!

And Jayabate, you are even more ignorant about KU Football than you are basketball, which is saying a lot. Please crawl back into your trailer and have a Spam casserole and keep quiet. That is when you are at your best: when you say nothing.

8 years, 5 months ago

On paper both look good ... but truth be told both are bringing baggage with them. There is a reason they are available. The question is can they perform - still. Being a 5 star in high school is a lot different than playing in college. They both should have the potential the question is can they still achieve to the level that people thought they could.

Even if they are able to ... without a good D coordinator and adding some players on D ... KU will still struggle to win.

Jayhawk1116 8 years, 5 months ago

They're coming here because Weis is known for "making" quarterbacks. They've got the talent, coach will teach them how to use it. Buck up!

UtahGma 8 years, 5 months ago

I agree with Jayhawk1116. I don't know Jake personally, but I do know what I saw this season at BYU. Jake's stats were he won against Ol' Miss, lost by 1 point against Texas, had an embarrassing loss to Utah (which is a big rivalry), beat UCF, was having a tough time against Utah State when he was pulled and Riley Nelson was put in.

BYU has a new OC in Brandon Doman. Doman is 34, it's his first year as an OC. I sat in the stands and listened to the 10 year old behind me call the plays... that's how predictable they were. I watched the center regularly snap the ball high, forcing Jake to jump to get it (if it didn't get lobbed completely over his head).

I don't believe the 'fault' lies with the 19 year old kid (who coincidentally can throw a rocket). There's a lot going on at BYU with 'entitled' upper classmen who resented the 'new' kid, a bunch of new supporting coaches including the OC, and the adjustments that have to occur for everything to gel. Unfortunately Jake was caught in the middle of this circus and had to make a very real decision to look out for his potential career. I think he could have made it at BYU, but then again, I don't know. This isn't LaVell Edwards well oiled machine. It's getting there... in the meantime, celebrate your new found wealth! Happy 2012!

Ludwig Supraphonic 8 years, 5 months ago

Great day to be a Jayhawk! A side benefit is the absence of purple trolls.

Mike Kendall 8 years, 5 months ago

Uh, unfortunately, they are getting ready for the Cotton Bowl down in Dallas. But hey, I will kind of say what Charlie said to his players earlier---enjoy the Cotton Bowl, kitties! Suck in every enjoyable moment because come next season, we will give you some big-time competition. I know we will be more competitive, for sure.

ahpersecoachingexperience 8 years, 5 months ago

Who was that poster that told you to bet your life on Boise State? You guys should of listened to him!

hawkcat 8 years, 5 months ago

Texashawk44 you got it correct with jaybate, no one reads his garbage anyway.

UtahGma 8 years, 5 months ago

Man, did KU score big! Excellent. As a BYU fan I'm glad we won't have to face KU in a couple of years : >.

I am sad that Jake is leaving (I was hoping he would decide to give BYU another chance). There are often things behind the scenes that we're not privy to, that lead to these decisions (new coaches, personalities of players and coaches, life chages etc.). BUT I know you are getting one heck of a QB, a kid with a lot of heart and talent galore. Crist and Jake... I think I've just become a KU football fan ; ).

Any mountain biking out there??? lol

Randy Bombardier 8 years, 5 months ago

What I really don't get is how this program can take two really good qbs like Webb and Pick (both 4-stars weren't they?) and do nothing with them. What terrible coaching. I am not going to get excited about who signs up until we start seeing it translate onto the field. Speed at DB and LB and power on the D-Line. Show me some of that. Especially show me someone whose work ethic exceeds their hype.

blackhawkjayhawk 8 years, 5 months ago

Pick and Webb were rated 3 stars out of high school. I know that the facts get in the way of your argument, but at least we should start with the truth. Webb was rated as the 28th best pro-style qb out of high school. Crist was3rd, Heaps was number UNO.

Randy Bombardier 8 years, 5 months ago

Good points, both. Hope we get a great weight coach and a great DC.

blackhawkjayhawk 8 years, 5 months ago

Here's how..... you hire an incompetent coach. And then you fire him. I'm not sure that you understand how college football works...you need players to play. Using your hero as an example, if these two had signed to be pussycats, would Sir Snyder be getting even more credit than Weis? Yes...of course. Since you aren 't going to get excited by off-season recruiting, perhaps you can cease commenting until "you see it on the field".

JayHok 8 years, 5 months ago

From a UT fan in the Longhorn chatroom.

"Not counting our new guys coming in, Ks will have us outmanned at the QB position? Looks like it unless Ash and Case improve this summer."

bigtex 8 years, 5 months ago

Pick didn't play his senior , do to injury, Pick was rated in the top 10 as dual threat. New coaches want their Qbs ask Crist and Heap. Long was a drop back Qb ,Pick and Long didn't get along.,heard Pick asked for a game plan change in agains't NDST and Long ripped him then buried him afterwards. Todd R. said it was the worst game plan and play calling he ever saw at the D-1 level by a coach

Jim Jackson 8 years, 5 months ago

I still can't believe we got both QBs, this is unreal. Hope Weis is here for the next 10 years! Gotta think Darrian Miller will stick around now??!

Go Jayhawkers!!

Paul Hurley 8 years, 5 months ago

I've got a friend in the ticket office at KU, his boss told him he couldn't tell him who, but that we will be announcing the hiring of a HUGE name DC with NFL ties.....Im thinking it's Leavitt!

troutsee 8 years, 5 months ago

I have no inside info but I will bet 99% that you are correct. Also, I think Charlie has known from day 1 that he was going to get these two QBs or he would not have had "that" discussion with Webb early on

manginodrh00lz 8 years, 5 months ago

This post reeks of rumors. Come back when you have real info. You've failed this forum but most importantly, you've failed your parents for using their computer after 9pm.
