Kansas University’s volleyball team swept UMKC, 3-0, on Tuesday night at Horejsi Center and improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2005.

KU downed the Kangaroos, 25-20, 25-10, 25-16.

Senior Karina Garlington totaled 10 kills, while Allison Mayfield had nine, Carolina Jarmoc seven and Lauren Hagan four. Mayfield had eight digs and freshman Brianne Riley seven.

Freshman Amy Wehrs made her collegiate debut in the third set, taking the floor with her sister, Kara. Both had one kill apiece.

“Everybody that was available to play played,” said KU coach Ray Bechard. “I thought a lot of people did a great job, but it’s a great start.”

KU will meet Akron at noon and Arkansas at 7 p.m., on Friday at the Jayhawk Classic.
