Two top women’s recruits on hand for Late Night

Two of the top uncommitted women’s college basketball players in the recruiting Class of 2011 will attend tonight’s Late Night in the Phog on official recruiting visits.

They are: Donielle Breaux, 5-9 guard, Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas, and Chelsea Gardner, 6-3 forward, DeSoto (Texas) High.

Two seniors who have committed to KU will attend: Natalie Knight, 5-7 guard, Olathe South, and Catherine “Bunny” Williams, 6-1 forward, Duncanville (Texas) High.

Visiting unofficially from the Class of 2012: Empress Davenport, 5-9 guard, Duncanville (Texas) High, and Lauren Douglas, 6-2 forward, Houston High in Collierville, Tenn.

sounds good. keep them coming. this is the year for the KU womens basketball team to excell. can't wait.

I think it's kinda funny that excluding the girl from Olathe, all of the recruits are from Texas except for the one from Houston High.

"Empress" ......that has to be one of the greatest girl's name of all time!!!!

We need to get her just for that!!! The fact that she is a 5'-9" guard which translates into about a 6'-5" male counterpart, doesn't hurt either!!

Outstanding. Just a thought, though. If they are uncommitted, how are they already womens college basketball players? All of the men's basketball recuits for 2011 are high school basketball players, or even future college basketball players. That's just being picky though. I hope all the recuits enjoy their visit, and hopefully the fans can impress some of these top womens players as well as the mens. It has been a long time coming for the women to share in the rich history and success of the men. RCJH!
