Purdue is a shell of itself after Robbie Hummel's knee injury. They shouldn't be in the top 10 any more.

How did KSU lose to Iowa State in the Octagon of Doom? Can't stand prosperity I guess. It's hard to believe at this juncture UTEP is better than Texas.

Hmmm, funny how all the Syracuse trolls who were jumping all over this board last week at this time seem to have disappeared.

I think both top Big 10 schools (purdue and Ohio St) are overrated. Watch out for West Virginia in the tourney. Sleeper alert!

A 5-loss Duke team is 4th. 7-loss Ohio State is 5th.
Let's scramble up some strange basketball names, currently in the top 25.
6. Purdue (sure, but 6th?)
7. West Virginia
8. New Mexico
9. K-State
12. Butler
14 BYU
17. Temple
20. Vanderbilt
21. Baylor
23. tx a&m
25. utep
Follow that with,
-Northern Iowa
-Richmond
-Utah State
... and you have yourself some parity.

fabian,
Syracuse fans jumped all over this board last week because Keegan was one of only two writers who didn't vote Syracuse #1 and he voted them as #3 behind Kentucky. Many of us got on here to complain that he is biased, and his "defense" of his vote didn't even make sense because all he did was talk about KU being #1, said nothing about UK being better than Cuse, and after all, he is in Kansas and the Orange Nation rightfully thought he could have had some bias.
Imagine a sportswriter with a vote who wrote for the Post Standard in Syracuse voting Kansas #3 this week? I am sure you'd all fill the Cuse boards, too....
As I've said on just about all of my posts, whether we agree with this line of thought or not, polls are "what have you done for me lately"....Last week Kansas lost, they fall from #1. This week Syracuse lost, they fall from #1.
I think we can all agree that the top three teams, if played round robin at a neutral site, would likely split or come close to splitting with one another. They're all that close....And I also think we'd all love to see the top four seeds make it to Indy so we can all put our money where are mouths are....
Good luck in the B12 tourney, I'll check in with y'all after Selection Sunday so we can chat a bit about matchups, et al....

Anyone care to explain why Ohio State is #5?

DC...
Turns out Keegan was right... he was just a week earlier than the rest of the voters.

Rankings are simply not that important at this time of year, and will be completely irrelevant in six days. The only important thing is that KU gets the #1 seed in STL, which we probably will since Cuse has a extra loss and UK doesn't have the quality of wins. My guess is that Cuse doesn't really care all that much since its a plane flight either way.
jayhawkinatl (anonymous) says…
Yep, where are the 'cuse fans now?!?!
I told them all last week that the Orangemen were going to lose @ Louisville...just as they did at home!!!
mvjayhawk (anonymous) says…
Keegan's list looks pretty good....he's gotten better over the last few weeks...tee he.
i would have West Virginia ahead of New Mexico. but i like Steve Alford better than Bob Huggins, so that's a wash.....:)

jmfitz,
The question was asked: where are all the Syracuse fans? All I am doing is answering the question; we're still here and we had a right to be here last week because Keegan is a complete tool...I haven't gone anywhere and, unlike you, have had a ton of class in debating who is the best team in the land and my posts have been well received by the Kansas fans who have some class (present company obviously not included)....
And again, for the 14th time today, I wish the KU faithful good luck in the post season and we hope to see you all in Indy...
Cheers,
DC

Oh, and by the way, do you stutter in real life and say everything twice too?

DCCuse: Several weeks back, Keegan demoted KU to #2, putting Texas at #1, before we had lost. Jayhawk fans flooded our own site slamming his journalistic integrity.
I don't think Keegan is particularly biased in favor of KU. He just votes what he thinks, and he clearly doesn't give much weight to either unspoken rule: "Don't switch until there's a loss, and, the most recent loss counts as worst."
But what is sillier - those rules, or those who don't follow them?
icthawkfan316 (anonymous) says…
dccuse - the difference between Keegan voting Kansas #1 last week and the Cuse #3 and your hypothetical scenario where someone votes KU #3 this week is that there was a case to be made for keeping Kansas in the top spot. The teams all had the same number of losses, KU was still the #1 RPI rated team, the losses of the two teams were pretty comparable (RPI-wise) and the strength of schedule ratings were comparable. The main arguement for Syracuse being ahead of Kansas was, well KU had lost more recently. So maybe that's a theory you subscribe to, maybe not, but I don't think Keegan was being horribly biased by keeping KU in the top spot. Now, I could listen to the arguement the Keegs was an idiot for ranking Kentucky ahead of the 'cuse as well. Before the loss Syracuse's RPI was better than Kentucky's, and Kentucky's strength of schedule is far easier than that of a lot of teams in the top 10. At any rate, the three teams seem to have pretty much sewn up 3 of the 4 number 1 seeds. KU is pretty much playing for the top #1 seed and to get the Midwest (St. Louis) Regional. It is pretty bad luck for Syracuse in that the East Regional is in Syracuse this year, I guess you can just hope you don't get shipped out West to Salt Lake City.

DCCuse. You make some good points, but at this point I'm not too concerned about rankings right now either, as "trueblue9" already stated, I'm more interested where we'll be in April.
ohioburg (anonymous) says…
The reason Ohio State is up there is because of Evan Turner. He’s as versatile of a point guard as you will see, having played four positions in his years at OSU. I’ve read plenty of reports that have him going as high as #2 in the draft if he comes out this year. That 24-7 record is a bit deceiving as they were 3-3 with Turner out of the line up due to a broken back earlier this year.
DocBean (anonymous) says…
I'm glad DCCuse is here, he's the only Syracuse fan with the balls to come back to this site after most of them talked up their team so much last week.
Both teams are very good, and I'm hoping KU is the overall number 1 seed on the same side of the bracket as whichever 4th team gets that spot. It's clear KU, UK, and SYR are far and away the best 3 teams. However, only 1 of them has held the number 1 spot for more then a week - KU.
DCCuse (anonymous) says…
Tuskin, thanks for that - I didn't know Keegan actually had UK #1 over KU at one point. I'll give him exactly one redemption point...Also, I think you got my point that the Cuse fan was more peeved he had Cuse at 3 behind Cheatapari's team.
gc - Agreed, who cares about rankings, like we all agree, KU/UK/Cuse all #1 seeds.
Good luck in the B12 tourney and I'll check back in with ya after Selection Sunday to see what you guys think of your draw.
Cheers,
DC

Syrupcuse can go back home now. Only KU spin-off's like UK, OSU and NC are allowed here. Get your own post at your own school. Talk about not clubbing women and stuff like that. You know, moralistic personal growth type stuff.
gchawk (anonymous) says…
DCCuse. Just wanted you to know that I appreciate other folks comments when they're serious and credible, and yours are. Kanstucky, generally like your posts, but not in agreement with you this time. I think it'd be a great match up between KU and Syracuse. Rock Chalk.
dihrdhwk86 (anonymous) says…
Isn't it amazing that a year ago, the media wanted to make excuses for Oklahoma and say they still deserved a one seed for losing games when Blake Griffin was hurt, but now the same media doesn't think Purdue should get a one seed because of Robbie Hummel's injury?
That was all one sentence

Sorry GC, I have a short term beef with coach JB's tactics when it comes to disciplining second and third time offenders. Integrity starts with the coach. See Eric Devendorff.
