KU long jumper named to academic team

Kansas University senior long jumper Eric Fattig was named to the 2009-10 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men’s Track and Field Second Team, as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Fattig, who recently earned All-America honors at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships, had a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while pursuing a master’s degree in aerospace engineering. He already completed a bachelor’s degree in physics engineering at KU, also with a 4.0 GPA.

Right. This is awesome. The guy is working on a graduate degree in rocket science and has a 4.0. I realize this isn't a revenue sport, but I'd like to see more news like this and reaction to it from Jayhawk Nation.
