Kansas University junior baseball reliever Brett Bochy underwent Tommy John surgery on Friday, KU officials confirmed.

Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery in Pensacola, Fla.

Bochy’s season is over. The recovery from Tommy John surgery is usually anywhere from 10-12 months.

Bochy last appeared in an April 1 game against Texas A&M.; KU won, 6-4, and Bochy picked up his fifth save after pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Bochy is 2-0 with an 0.78 earned-run average in 23 innings this season.

KU officials did not report how or when Bochy injured his elbow.

Damn! No doubt Coach Price takes out Waltz in the ninth last night if Bochy had been available. Makes you wonder who will step up now.

this team is really starting to feel the injury bug. hopeufully it won't hurt them too much but this is really starting to put a damper on a season that was rock chalk full of potential.

Something had to be wrong as he wasn't used in the final game vs A&M when it seemed obvious we'd go to Bochy. Tough break for the kid and for the team. Bochy was having an all-conference type of year. I hope Murray can step up and become the closer. Nice outing last night in a tough siutation. Could see Poppe step up as well. Good luck Coach Price.
