18th is not a good spot in the AP poll... hopefully we'll be the first team to survive that spot this year...

Oregon has quite the discrepancy following their win at Cal. 16th in the AP poll but 25th in the coaches?

Are there still people in the national press not ranking Kansas? That's the only thing I see as the factor dragging them down in the polls.

So. Mississippi deserves to at least get more "votes" than A&M don't they?

There are a many (11) national people not ranking KU...mainly the talking heads at ESPN/ABC (Except Craig James). Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit, in particular, continue to shut KU out of their Top 25 rankings.

Go to http://www.pollspeak.com to get a breakdown...it's addicting.

Of course, we learned yesterday that we have a lot of work to do on the line. We had limited D-Line pressure (yes, SMU rolled the pocket a ton to negate our rush) but our O-Line was blown up several times. I am happy for the bye week to get some good work done.

Wow. I know Cal took a ridiculous beating, but falling from 6th to 24th in the AP is a huge drop! Maybe Colin Cowpie -- I mean Cowherd -- will now stop calling the Pac 10 the "second best conference in football." Second thought, I won't hold my breath....

I didn't expect us to move up much with this close win. This is about where we should be.

And Code_2008, with the by week maybe we will move off the jinxed spot without having to play a game....

my problem is--how do teams not even rank all of a sudden jump to top sixteen in the nation it has happen two weeks in a row, o i take that back remember houston wasnt rank either-then they jump to 17 after the o.s.u. beatdown these rankings are starting to piss me off---did we play great no but we gave been in the polls all year and have only moved up one or two spots a week while other teams have moved up MANY spots what a joke!

ESPN FAN POLL has Boise State at No. 1 in the nation. Good thing fans are not voting.

IOWA-WASHINGTON-HOUSTON-MICHIGAN-ORAGON-ECT FROM NOTHING TO GREATNESS IN ONE WIN WHAT A JOKE BCS IS A JOKE WE WILL NEVER HAVE A CHANCE FOR A BCS TITLE EVEN IF WE GO UNBEATEN A TEAM WITH ONE LOSS JUST BECAUSE OF THERE HISTORY WILL GET THE NOD WHAT A JOKE HOW MANY TEAMS WITH A LOSS IS ALREADY AHEAD OF US -8-THATS HALF SO FOR US TO HAVE A CHANCE WE GOT TO GO UNBEATEN AND HOPE THAT ATLEAST 8 MORE TEAMS GET THERE SECOND LOSS--COLLAGE FOOTBALL IS JUST A DAMM JOKE-WE NEED PLAYOFFS PLAIN AND SIMPLE

Hold on guys. There is no bigger worshiper of KU football than your's truly. And I really felt we were going to have a good to great team this year. But, so far we have not put a great game together on both sides of the ball. The closest we came was against UTEP, and then it took us almost half the game to get going, and UTEP is apparently miserable. Our defense remains suspect.....too many receivers running WIDE open...especially the drag routes across the middle. The QB draws in the last two games were wide open. We need to tighten that up, too. In addition, we need some sort of middle screen and we need to stop running the shovel pass so much. Do we deserve to be ranked? Of course we do. However, we really have not had a significant win, as the others have had who have passed us by. I do not begrudge those who have passed us by due to significant wins. We need to take care of business over the next 3 weeks and then beat OU. That'll put us in the top seven or higher.

troutsee- I hope we are just waiting to put it all together in Big 12 play! I agree with you 100%, we have not looked that good. This team is hard to figure out, I can't tell if they just are not that good or if they just have not put it together yet. I hope we just have not put it all together yet. One thing though, it is nice to be 4-0 and have this problem!

How does USC lose to a horrible Washington team, move down to only 11th, and THEN move way up to 7th simply because they won a game this week? Total crap.

"espn fan poll has Boise State at No. 1 in the nation. Good thing fans are not voting."

You are so right. God forbid that anything happen to destroy the credibility of the voting system that decides a national champion.

Derringer29, let me introduce you to a newfangled concept called punctuation.

Boy, talk about overreacting (not to mention being homers to the nth degree)! It's early in the season, KU hasn't beaten anyone of any note and hasn't looked particularly good in doing so, yet KU is still ranked in the top 20 in both polls, and people are bitching that they deserve better. As troutsee said, if we beat OU the rankings will take care of themselves. I for one am happy to see KU ranked where it is, and think it's appropriate for what the 'Hawks have shown so far.
