Manhattan Kansas golfer Nate Barbee fired a first-round 69, landing atop the leaderboard Monday at the rain-shortened Jim Colbert Intercollegiate at Colbert Hills Golf Course.
Morning rains in Manhattan caused the morning round to be postponed and for the event to be shortened to 36 holes. The Jayhawks shot a first-round 297 to place third entering the final round.
