Game balls and Gassers

Candidates for Game balls

• Despite being victimized by multiple drops, Todd Reesing completed 28 of 41 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns. He did not throw an interception.

• Filling in for injured Jake Sharp, freshman Toben Opurum rushed for 70 yards and two TDs and had three receptions for 50 yards. He made an outstanding one-handed catch.

• DE Maxwell Onyegbule returned an interception 48 yards for a touchdown.

Candidates for Gassers

• Johnathan Wilson dropped a perfectly placed long pass from Reesing and was flagged for a pair of penalties.

• Justin Thornton for getting turned around in the end zone and burned for a touchdown.

What a game Reesing had to have those kind of stats despite the drops. It's great to see Memorial Stadium packed, that is what Mangino and Reesing have done for KU.

J. Wilson has talent, but I think a Brisco, Meier, and MacDougald starting lineup would be NAILS.

Yeah...a little disppointed as well to see the drops. But Briscoe had a couple as well. I still think Wilson has a chance this year to come up big for us. I'm with you on that though, Alumn.

KU_Alum: All 4 of those guys started. Did you watch the game?

As long as we don't start a tightend, we will start all four of the above receivers. Wilson is going to be alright. He's had about 3 or 4 drops this season, but even the best of them drop them now and then. Briscoe and Meier have both had drops this season, and that won't diminish my faith in them coming up big when we need them.

As to the two penalties on Wilson, this is his third year playing for KU and the first time flagged for motion. I believe the film will show no motion. Other penalty was face push, simply a reaction to make more yardage. As to the drops, Briscoe and Meier have also had drops and you will see drops tonight when the Giants and Cowboys play. While we are keeping stats, I am sure we have the total number of passes thrown by Reesing and the total number of completions. Have the coaches kept a record of the incompletitions that were due to simply a poor pass . I think you would be surprised. Wilson is going to be alright.!!!
