I wish Ohio St. and USC would both lose this weekend.
I also wish Obama would do a last minute change of topic for the speech to congress to talk about a college playoff. This would definitely help his ratings.

The UTEP game has had me worried all summer.

The rankings will serve as motivation for us this week. Look how far Nebraska climbed after beating FAU 49-3.

I am rooting quite heavily for USC. I am not a fan of them, but I really cannot stand Ohio State. I do not want to watch them slick their way into another NC just so I can watch some other team treat them as there punching bag.

I am a little upset by our lack of respect in these rankings and am annoyed at how willing they are to praise Mizzou for just one game against a much overrated and underprepared team. I hope that we try harder and it goes to Mizzous heads. I hate them with such a passion.

I am not all that worried about UTEP. There offense is really good but they have a really bad defense. We resemble them but be have an outstanding offense with a good defense. I think that they will hang around for maybe the first half but in the end we will spread it out and come away with a convincing victory.

Is Oklahoma without Bradford really 11 spots better than KU with Reesing?

for right now lawya.... yes they are.... there are alot of things wrong with thse ratings.... but up to our kids to change that

Dig them miners.

Blake Post 10 years, 4 months ago

they rank stinking corndogs above us? How nauseating. that makes me wretch NU must die

time to pay back UTEP for that basketball debacle. UTEP must die

troutsee 10 years, 4 months ago

It will be interesting to see how UNC does this weekend. Hopefully they will win. Our 49-3 "rout" was less than spectacular, with the last 14 points coming at mop-up time. What concerns me, is that without Reesing, this game would have been much closer. Shades of Sam Houston State. We have a lot of work to do.

Troutsee, we have Reesing and we get Briscoe back next week.I don't think you are giving KU enough credit.

troutsee 10 years, 4 months ago

I stand by what I said. We have much work to do, especially on defense.

NebraskaJayhawk 10 years, 4 months ago

I agree totally with troutsee. If we don't improve imensely in the defensive game, we are in for a season similar to last season. If we're satisified with winning 7-8 games a year there's something wrong. The potential is there with this team, but they better make great strides in these next three games before the Big XII season hits.

Other than being 1 ahead of Fizzou, the rankings dont mean much right now. More importantly let's just keep sawin' wood...

troutsee 10 years, 4 months ago

Defense is the name of the game. Without a good defense there will be no B 12 N championship. This Saturday's game will be a good test. If we hold them to 2 scores, I'll be satisified.

jayhawkintx73 10 years, 4 months ago

Still aren't getting much respect, but thats ok. Let them keep the chip on their shoulder. I'm sure Mangino already has this kid on his radar, but Barry James Sanders is a Freshman in high school, the son of Barry Sanders. This kid should be on Mangino's radar. 140 yards on 3 carries, his first 3 carries in high school.

i think some of you guys are being way too negative. The game on Saturday was nothing like sam houston state last year. That game was close and through at least the 1st half i thought SHS might pull off an upset. there was absolutely no question on saturday. They were determined to stop the pass, dropping 8, so we ran it. obviously our offense isnt going to look as explosive but we still got 550 yards and 330 rushing yards. Think of how terrible the running game was last non-conference. that is a huge sign. not to mention we played without one of the best college players in the country in briscoe. Yea our defense wasnt great but it looked a lot better than the start of last year. we had 300 MORE yards than them. only punted what?twice? and we held them to 3 points. It was certainly much better than the start of last season.

btw i expect a 45-17 win over UTEP. i think we'll have a very good game with Briscoe back.
