The Kansas University volleyball team split its two matches Friday at the Jayhawk Invitational.
In the first match, junior Karina Garlington led KU with a season-high 20 kills in a 3-1 victory over Lipscomb.
KU continued its perfection in home openers in the victory over the Lady Bison (2-2) by scores of 20-25, 25-14, 25-23 and 25-22. The Jayhawks have not lost a home opener since 1993.
In the second match, KU lost to Florida International, 3-1, despite two players in double-digit kills and a career blocking performance from freshman Tayler Tolefree.
KU fell to 3-2 on the season, losing 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22.
Garlington had 16 kills and Allison Mayfield added 13.
Tolefree finished the evening with a match-best seven block assists.
Kansas will wrap up the Jayhawk Invitational at 1 p.m. today against Creighton.
