Kansas University basketball player Chase Buford has been placed on diversion for operating a vehicle under the influence, Lawrence Municipal Court records said.
Buford, who was scheduled to appear in court for the charge on Thursday, instead must pay $802 in diversion and other court fees. The diversion also includes charges of refusal to submit to a breath test and a stop sign violation.
The 21-year-old junior basketball guard from San Antonio was arrested July 11 in the 700 block of New Hampshire.
According to the diversion agreement, Buford is not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs for one year and must complete substance abuse treatment.
KU basketball player Brady Morningstar was also placed on diversion earlier this month in a driving under the influence case.

So after one year, the coast is clear for him to consume alcohol and drugs? Or is alcohol OR drugs? Is the choice his or will a mandate from the court be handed down outlining the illicit narcotics that will be recommended to him?
I'm so confused by this... (*wink)

Coach Self needs to be done with these favors to friends and KU alumni. These guys aren't living up to their end of the bargain.

I wonder if part of his punishment from HCBS will be to stay home during away games with Brady?? Let Juenemann travel for a few games. Seems fair to me.

I love how it says "KU basketball player Chase Buford" and the story about Morningstar just said "Brady Morningstar". Just shows the disparity between the stars and the scrubs.

I'm sorry, but are you calling Brady Morningstar a "star"?
I don't know whether to roll my eyes in dismissive condescension, or to burst out loud laughing at such preposterousness!
