Ed Fink, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker from Althoff Catholic in Belleville, Ill., orally committed to play football at Kansas University, Rivals.com reported Monday.
Fink, who has 134 tackles through nine games, is a three-year letterman in basketball and a two-year letterman in baseball. His brother, Dale, is the starting quarterback for Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. He chose KU over Kansas State, Cincinnati and Army.

YEAH!!!!! Welcome aboard Ed! We're in the process of retraining the fan base, but other than that the pieces are falling into place.....

damn, 15 tackles a game isn't too shabby.

Can we use the words "verbally committed" instead of "orally? I think that is what most recruiting sites use.

He's going to have to put on 20-30 pounds to be a linebacker in the Big 12. Hopefully he will sign his scholarship offer and become a great linebacker for us.

jayhawkintexas - it depends on what position he plays. James Holt was a 220lb senior last season for us.

Should be a fantastic recruiting class.
It's always nice to beat out KSU for a recruit.

We can use all the defenders we can get, especially at linebacker.

At 6'3" he'll probably fill out to 235. We don't need 250lb LBs in the XII. Just speed and tackling.
Of course, who am I kidding. He'll end up as a DE or a TE anyway right? With those basketball skills TE seems to be a good fit. Start working on blocking and catching Ed. Cuz with Mangino your chances of being a LB are 50/50.

Anyone that says you need to be 250 to play LB is not in touch with reality. 250 is Defensive End size. You have to be small and fast to play LB now. You have to be a DB with some size.

Ed must have no aversion to playing in front of a near empty staduim in the 4th quarter when playing at home......

6' 3" 220 and athletic (multi-sport letter winner) is the prototype for today's college linebacker . recruted by army tells me he's a high quality and SMART young man. just what i (we) love to see in the young men and women who wear the crimson and blue. outstanding get for coach m. rock chalk!

I think Ed Fink will be an asset to our program and the coaches will put him where he is the best he can be for the team. I have not heard anything at KU on a pretty good quarterback in Kansas by the name of Bubba Starling from Gardner, KS. He is getting a lot of looks from Texas schools because he is 6'5" with good credentials at quarterback. Down here some say he can go either both football or baseball but the kid would like to play both if possible. It was fairly common in the early '60's to be a multi sport athlete as I was, but I think everyone is too specialized in today's football. Are we looking at him? Anyone know anything? Texas Jayhawk

Mr. Mangino? Some looks for Bubba, yes?

Ask Fink about playing the Flyers. We are recruiting the right state but East St. Louis and Chicago Public School is where the players reside!

Great pickup! Can't wait to see you in the crimson and blue Ed.
