The Kansas football team will play its home game against Oklahoma at either 2:30 or 7 p.m. on Oct. 24, the Big 12 announced Monday. A final decision on the game time will be made by Sunday.

ABC will televise both the KU-OU matchup and also the Texas at Missouri game that week, with one of the games starting at 2:30 and the other game beginning at 7.

The afternoon/evening game will break a string of three straight home pre-noon kickoffs for the Jayhawks.

This is great!! Hopefully we take care of business in Boulder. I hope we get the 7 o'clock start time, how sweet will that atmosphere be...

Thank god its not going to be a 11 a.m. kickoff!

Love it. We need to take care of CU and OU needs to down UT to set up the big 7:00 showdown on national tv. (if i am not going insane, ABC 2.30 games are regional coverage, 7.00 game is one national primetime date?)

rockchalkblock 4 years, 11 months ago

the only reason I can think of why they just dont give us the 7:00 opening is cuase if Mizzou takes care of buisness down in saltwater they will most likely be ranked, and then abc would take that game cuase Texas would be the highest ranked team.. cuase right now KU OU is the only game matching two ranked teams. We majorly need the 7pm game tho cuase we needto to be as hostile as possible!

The 7pm game will be so much better. If we don't take care of Colorado this weekend, say hello to 2:30.

d_prowess 4 years, 11 months ago

If we get the 7pm game, does that also include College Gameday?

0

Travis Shinkle 4 years, 11 months ago

Win at CU play at 7pm, it's a simple as that...

I think it would include College Gameday if the game's at 7

0

TtownHawk 4 years, 11 months ago

d_prowess thats what i'm thinking too. college gameday usually does the 8 pm (eastern) abc game. that would be awesome to have them in Lawrence! Unlike 2 years ago when we got it, just that the game was at Arrowhead.

Kyle Cornish 4 years, 11 months ago

College Gameday will NOT come to Lawrence... They are in Dallas for OU/UT this weekend and will not go to an OU game two weeks in a row. Sorry KU fans, let's just hope for a 7 p.m. game.

PLEASE GOD LET IT BE 7!!!!!!!!!

I'm okay with the 2:30 game as well. If it's at 7 then how many students leave at halftime to go hit the bars? lol

weaglehawk,

College gameday has no problem having the same team on two weeks in a row.

They had Texas on two weeks in a row last year. They also had Oklahoma on two weeks in a row last year.

It could happen...

weaglehawk-

For Gameday on 10/24 the only two games that the KU vs. OU match-up are competing against is Texas @ MU and TCU @ BYU. So, if your theory is correct, Gameday wouldn't go to either Big 12 game and go to a Mountain West game??? Huh?

Needless to say, I disagree with your theory. Here is my theory: KU MUST beat CU, OU MUST beat Texas. Then we get the 7pm and GameDay. If OSU beats MU, that helps out even more.

I don't think whether KU wins or loses this Saturday's game will affect whether the game is at 2:30 or 7 (although a win will obviously be good). It will depend on the outcome of the OU/UT game this Saturday. If OU wins, then we get the prime-time 7 p.m. slot. If UT wins, then we have a 2:30 game.

Due to family circumstances beyond my control, I will be attending the Texas/Mizzou Homecoming game on the 24th. It's with the greatest displeasure I have to cheer for one or the other team.

Besides just the automatic choice to cheer against the Tiggers, would it not serve KU's fortunes better as well for MU to get another loss? Ideally, a giant spceship would hover over Fograt Field, beam both teams up and disappear into the celestial heavens.

In case that happy event doesn't happen, however, please advise.

OakvilleJHawk: Your fantasy omitted a really good rectal probing at the hands of ET. For both teams...

0

d_prowess 4 years, 11 months ago

Um, this is a no brainer, you cheer against MU!?! We need UT to keep winning so that when we beat them, we climb even higher in the rankings. Or in the case that they beat us, we want them to be undefeated otherwise and in the Championship game so we (with only one loss to UT) get put into a BCS game.
MU winning does no one any good...

Oakville Hawk: sad you're forced to attend Texas v. Tiger game...

Rooting Rules: 1. Root for any Big 12 team to lose in order that KU may have better chance to win the league or the north title. 2. Root for a Big 12 team to lose that may be tied for us as in year end league BB champs. (lately Texas has needed another loss so we can stop co/sharing the league title) 3. Root for any team to win that can beat some other team that may be headed for a bowl game or march madness seeding that we covet. (by the way- how last yr. OU got the Sprint Center draw I still don't understand.) 4. when we are not involved root for the team with more losses. 5. root for teams we've beaten to start whipping their foes. ISU time to man up. 6. root for anyone that plays KState & Mizzou. 7. root for anyone-anytime that plays MU. 8. rule seven supersedes all other rules. 9. if in doubt about rule 8. check with coach Fambrough.

7pm and FREEZING. Here's to shattering Bradford at Memorial.

0

mutt627 4 years, 11 months ago

If we play at 7pm I can make it to the game. If we play at 2:30pm, then I will have to sell my ticket. I really need us to play at 7pm.

0

Hawktacular 4 years, 11 months ago

Our crowd might actually suck less for a 7pm start vs. OU. Our defense on the other hand probably can't suck less.

0

InfiniteJ 4 years, 11 months ago

I hate to say it, but I really don't want the game to be on prime-time (or close to it), because I really don't want the rest of the country to see Bradford throw for 500 yards against KU's horrible D.

0

Tony Bandle 4 years, 11 months ago

In an odd sort of way, I think the ISU game was a very fortunate experience for both the defensive players and coaches.

It was a real "slap in the face" dose of reality that still may allow adjustments to be made [schemes, personnel, new defensive philosophy] that may be implemented in time to cut down the disparity between the "D" and the "O".

It's not going to make guys run faster or be stronger but the adjustments may give the players, within their own abilities, be put in situations to perform better.

i.e., play three LB,s with several blitz packages for QB pressure, let the front seven react better to run plays, set DE's out a little farther to cover sweeps, DB's close gap on one on one coverage for better quick hit response, on QB options always, always, always hit the QB as hard as you can every time...make him pitch it and pay for it!! {advice from an old DE] never lose track of the TE.....these are just a few suggestions.

Problem is ABC broadcasts regionally...out here on the left coast we'll most likely get some loser PAC-10 game instead. You'd think with satellite I could get it but noooooo...

0

atexasjhawk 4 years, 11 months ago

Hey L-J World, let's not overlook a Colorado team coming off a strong showing at Texas on Saturday night. The CU game is at 6:00 pm this Saturday, which would break the three-game pre-noon streak. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

0

okjhok 4 years, 11 months ago

Gameday will go to Ann Arbor for PSU-Mich before it comes to L-town.

Ross-I may have the same problem, but it should be available on ESPN Gameplan. You can buy individual games on sat for ~$30.

0

Hawk50 4 years, 11 months ago

I just hope it's not too cold for the students to show up and actually stay for 3/4 of the game against OU.

0

Billy Derringer 4 years, 11 months ago

its all going to be a moot point---this cu games really has me scared, i really think we are primed for a let down in boulder, new qb-restored hope in the team and its also not going to be very warm there i see us losing 35--31 in a close but heartbreaking game..Hate to say it but we have escape the last two games, i think the 3rd one gets us...so the start time of the following game is a moot point.

0

omari1911 4 years, 11 months ago

Ross, it looks like the only Pac 10 game scheduled that day on ABC is Cal vs. Oregon at 2:30 Central / 12:30 Pacific. As fellow West Coast Jayhawks, let's hope for KU in the 7:00 PM slot so we don't have to order the game on ESPN Gameplan.

0

hometownhawk 4 years, 11 months ago

derringer, since when is 65 degrees not warm enough? And how are we primed for a letdown? We could not possibly be any more spooked after looking totally inept on D in that ISU game. "Letdowns" occur with overconfidence and coming off big wins. The only redeeming part of your post is that you managed to say the word "moot" twice in your incredibly long run-on sentence.

0

phogthedog 4 years, 11 months ago

How about we move the band to the bowl section so all of us can hear them? Our band is now bigger and noisier than the students. Then put the students on either side of the band. I'm pretty disgusted that they get prime seats when they don't show up......and now we are offering them a chance to win Wii and other nonsense just for staying at the game! It's embarrassing.

0

Joe Baker 4 years, 11 months ago

I don't care what time we play. I want to defeat CU and then I'm so there against OU. I've been waiting for this game for a long time. We have all the right pieces in place and frankly, there's no reason why we can't win against OU.

KU fans must show against the OU game! We've got to have a good showing. I can't believe they would even think about exiting at all for any game. This is the year of the Jayhawk, not the Sooner!

Come on Hawks attend and stay at the games, it's called loyalty!!!

Beat CU

i'm in NYC and hope I ABC picks it up -- but if KU takes care of business this week, it will probably be the evening game and we'll get the boring Miami vs. Clemson game. Ugh, it's tough following Jhawk football over here.

0

ajmag 4 years, 11 months ago

Do not look past colorado! ISU gave us trouble, and they have as much talent as a middle school B team.

College gameday would be cool though! They have done florida games the last two weeks, so i hope they will do the Big 12 for two weeks!

0

Krohnutz 4 years, 11 months ago

Hawk50;

I think part of the leaving last week was that they didn't prepare for it to be cold. Friday wasn't that bad, Saturday morning it was like, "What the hell happened? Did we move Lawrence way north?" People running around in t-shirts and jeans, crap like that. But in their defense, its tough to plan for weather when you are hungover...

I hope we win in Colorado. The Buffinhoes are always that team that screws up their nonconference, drags down the north performance, and then plays well enough to throw a wrench into somebodies conference hopes. Lets hope its Nebraska, not us.

I wish I could tell the players, "Please, please, please... Don't look past CU for next weekend."
