Wichita Kansas University sophomore Tony Thompson hit his team-leading 15th home run and collected four RBIs, five different Kansas players collected two hits, and No. 23 Kansas beat Wichita State, 8-3, on Wednesday night at Eck Stadium
The victory earned KU baseball a season-series sweep of the Shockers for the first time since 2000. The Jayhawks improved to 34-16 overall, while Wichita State fell to 24-24.
Thompson’s 15th homer of the season, a two-out two-run shot to right field, gave KU the lead in the sixth. His 66th RBIs this season lead the Big 12 and are the fourth-most by a Kansas player in team history.
KU’s Lee Ridenhour earned his fifth victory of the season. Ridenhour went 51⁄3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Kansas relievers Travis Blankenship, Brett Bollman and Colton Murray held the Shockers scoreless over the final 22⁄3 innings.
The Jayhawks will travel to Missouri on Friday.

will Ridenhour be able to pitch against Moo this weekend? I hope so, because he's pretty darn good. there's still an outside shot to win the "border showdown" series....
Go Jayhawks!

There are several good places to get good KU and Big-12 baseball news.
Rock Chalk Talk has been covering KU baseball for three years. rockchalktalk.com
Big-12 Hardball is a newer site that covers the whole conference. Big12Hardball.com
And the KU baseball homepage is always full of good information.
