Berlin — Former Kansas University basketball center Sasha Kaun’s CSKA Moscow squad fell to Panathinaikos of Greece, 73-71, in Sunday’s Euroleague championship game in Berlin. Kaun scored three points in 13 minutes.

It must be a great feeling to earn $1M clams a year for playing 13 minutes a game. Oligopoly capitalism has triumphed in Russia.

Jaybate...I was thinking the same thing. Was that in line with his season averages? He'll never see the NBA with stats like that...and perhaps he's cool with that.

Come on lads. The guy helped us in winning it all in 08'. Doesn't he deserve a bit support? From what I have heard, the Russian league is on a very high standard. I am confident if he keeps his level of performance up then the NBA will come for him eventually. Wasn't he drafted by some NBA team last year already?

I miss King Kaun. He was a great person and basketball player. I don't see him in the NBA, but I was hoping he'd be a CSKA Moscow stud!

Cleveland owns the NBA rights to Sasha. He was drafted by Seattle (now Oklahoma City) and traded to Cleveland.

He plays on one of the best teams in Europe. He doesn't start but plays some. His time will come. The real advantage is that he earns a lot of money and only plays 2 times a week. Doesn't get beat up like the NBA. He can have a great career in Europe and make a great living.

You also have to consider the fact that in Europe. younger players typically come off the bench. In addition to that, "big men" are expected to be more versatile than in the states. They expect a Pau Gasol, or Zyldrunas Ilgaukas type of game with lots of jump shots and turn arounds. That isn't Kaun's game. I personally think Sasha would be more productive in the NBA where he could come off the bench for shot blocking, rebounding and the occasional back-door jam.

Im sure Sasha will do whatever he wants to do. An intelligent young man, with a very athletic strong frame. Obviously still developing his shooting touch when he left KU, but over time, that will come. I wish him the best.

Kaun is a really smart guy so once his career is done he will find something else to do and be really successful at whatever he decides i mean the guy did have like a 4.0 GPA

Hell ya he is reeeaally smart! So, once Lebron leaves the Cavs and Kaun comes back to America to play for the Cavs with Darnell, he can also work for Bill Gates or Steve Jobs.

Um, Kaun wasn't a scoring threat in college. Not sure why people think he would be more of a threat in a professional league. Great guy and a great defensive player, but he will never be a powerhouse inside. Happy for him.
