Oklahoma City Senior Dougie McCaulley and sophomore Liz Kocon tallied the Kansas University softball team’s only hits in the Jayhawks’ 2-0 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday evening in their Big 12 Conference opener.
Kansas fell to 10-15 overall, while OSU improved its record to 24-6 behind Anna Whiddon’s complete-game, shutout victory.
The Cowgirls took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly and then scored their second run with a leadoff home run in the sixth inning.
Senior Val George suffered the loss for KU, giving up six hits and one walk while striking out seven. She fell to 7-8 on the season.
KU will wrap up its conference series at Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. today.
