LAFAYETTE, LA. — Kansas University golfer Walt Koelbel fired a final round 73 at the Louisiana Classics to tie for third place and record the top finish of his career.

KU carded its best round of the event with a 292 in round three and finished in ninth place.

"I am very proud of how Walt played this week and a few other guys had solid weeks as well," coach Kit Grove said. "The winds were up today causing higher scores and I was happy that we were able to turn in our best round of the event."

Sophomore Nate Barbee shot his second under-par round of the event with a final round 71 and finished tied for 12th.
