Kansas student-athletes Valerie Chapple and Russell Brorsen have been selected to receive 2008-09 Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarships, the Big 12 conference office announced. The Jayhawks are two of 24 Big 12 student-athletes given the honor.

Chapple, who spent the last four seasons as Kansas softball’s starting third baseman, was one of five Big 12 Conference players named an Academic All-American in 2009.

Brorsen started all 13 games at defensive end for the Kansas football team his senior season of 2008.
