Briscoe, Stuckey named preseason all-Americans

Kansas University football players Dezmon Briscoe and Darrell Stuckey have been named to Phil Steele's preseason all-American teams, it was announced Tuesday.

Briscoe, a junior wide receiver out of Dallas, was named to the magazine's third team, while Stuckey, a senior safety from Kansas City, earned fourth-team honors. Both also appear on the publication's all-Big 12 first team.

Seven other Jayhawks players earned all-conference mentions, including second-team selections Kerry Meier (wide receiver) and Daymond Patterson (punt returner), third-team selections Jake Sharp (running back), Jeff Spikes (offensive tackle) and Jake Laptad (defensive end) and fourth-team picks Caleb Blakesley (defensive tackle) and Alonso Rojas (punter).

Briscoe, who recently returned to the team following a suspension that lasted throughout much of the spring, recorded school records in both receiving yards (1,407) and touchdown receptions (15) in 2008. Stuckey was the team's lone first-team all-Big 12 player last season, meanwhile, after finishing with 98 tackles, five interceptions and seven pass break-ups.

The same Phil Steele that picked KU to finish 4th in the North? behind Colorado and K-State? The same Steele who doesn't have KU in his top-50?

Take that for what it's worth.

A copy of Phil's rag should be strategically placed in each player's locker at the beginning of this season.........

It would seem that hyped up kid at Baylor seems to be stealing some of Reesing's spotlight. I can see putting McCoy and Bradford over Reesing simply becauyse they have obviously produced, but come on, how is Reesing not 3rd team all-Big XII?

No accolades for TR...despite being everyone's choice for team MVP. A travesty.

Congratulations to Briscoe and Stuckey! It’s always nice to see Jayhawks getting some spotlight.

As far as Todd Reesing, he has always had his doubters. I mean he had to market himself to schools for crying out loud! But he’ll get his chance to go head to head against the top 2 in the Big 12 so hopefully he’ll prove he belongs.

He has already proved he belongs! How many bowl victories has Sam Bradford led OU to? 2 less than Todd Reesing has led KANSAS to.

We have the skill positions to compete in the Big 12. The question is going to be whether our linemen on both sides of the ball can develop into all-conference level performers. You can't win in this league getting hammered in the trenches. NU, UT and TT all demolished KU's lines last fall.

Phil Steele is the same guy that picked KU to finish 4th in the Big 12... That's all I'm taking from this.

Ressing is already a Legend.

It was that game last season at Arrowhead with time runing out and KU losing and I see on my TV a graceful floating football tossed with pefect arc and trajectory (Newton) fall into Meier's arms who sprinted into the endzone and I thought I was watching Texas or LSU or USC and NO I'm watching KANSAS!
