Former Kansas University golfer Andrew Storm of Omaha opened with a 3-under par 67 to lead the field following round one of the stroke play qualifying portion of the Kansas Amateur at Kansas City Country Club.

Kansas State golfer Joe Ida and former University of Penn golfer Dean Merrill shot 2-under par 68s to trail by one stroke.

Round two of stroke play qualifying will be held today. The 145 player field will then be trimmed to the low 64 for a single-elimination match play bracket.
