Taylor wins Big 12 rookie of the week

Kansas Freshman Tyshawn Taylor has been named the Big 12's Freshman of the Week for the third time this season.


Kansas freshman guard Tyshawn Taylor was named Big 12 rookie of the week, the conference announced Monday.

Taylor averaged 17 points while making 11 of 15 shots (73.3 percent) in helping the Jayhawks to victories over Kansas State and Colorado last week.

Against K-State, Taylor had 20 points, four rebounds and three assists. He made five of eight shots from the floor and also added two steals.

On Saturday, Taylor went 6-for-7 against the Buffaloes, contributing 14 points to go with two assists.

Taylor also won the Big 12's rookie of the week award on Dec. 8 and Dec. 22 of 2008.

The Jayhawks will take on Texas A&M; at 8 p.m. Monday in Allen Fieldhouse.

Congrats to Taylor! Hopefully he has pushed through the freshman wall and will be kicking butt the rest of the year.

SuperMario - You are correct that makes 3 ROTW awards. So far this season Collins has 1 POW and Taylor has 3 ROTW.
