Columbia, Mo. Kansas University’s swimming team broke two school records in its two events Wednesday at the Big 12 Championships.
The Jayhawk 200-yard medley relay team — seniors Danielle Herrmann and Maria Mayrovich, sophomore Iuliia Kuzhil and freshman Abigail Anderson — touched the wall in a second-place time of 1:38.45, smashing the previous school record by 1.99 seconds.
Kansas is tied with Missouri in third place after the first two events with 62 points.
Texas leads with 80 points, while Texas A&M is second place with 68. Iowa State and Nebraska are tied for fifth with 54 points.
KU was fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay in 7:13:86, four seconds faster than the school record that was set in 2005. The record-breaking squad was senior Anne Liggett, juniors Emily Lanteigne and Erin Goetz and freshman Shannon Garlie.
