Millington, Tenn. Kansas University’s baseball team managed just a run and three hits in a 2-1 loss to Memphis on Sunday in the Service Academy Classic.
Cameron Selik (0-1), a junior transfer from Grossmont (Calif.) College making his first KU start, surrendered single runs in each the first and second innings — a solo home run in the first and a run off a bases-loaded wild pitch in the second.
But he settled down to retire 12 of the final 17 Tigers he faced.
KU (1-2) scored its only run in the seventh. David Narodowski drew a walk, advanced on a single by Tony Thompson, then scored on a wild pitch.
The Jayhawks left eight men on base, including the tying run in scoring position in each of the last three innings.
