Former Mississippi State assistant J.B. Grimes is expected to join new Kansas University football coach Turner Gill’s staff, according to Rivals.com.

Grimes, who is expected to be named the Jayhawks’ offensive line coach, has served as the offensive line coach at Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M;, East Carolina and, most recently, Mississippi State, where he served for four seasons.

In addition to Grimes, Gill’s staff is expected to include offensive coordinator Chuck Long, defensive coordinator Carl Torbush, special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Aaron Stamn, running backs coach Reggie Mitchell and wide receivers coach Darrell Wyatt.

How many more coaches will ther be?

Long is QB's and Torbush s LB's?

DL? DB's?

Will their previous position include being assistant HC/DC or recruiting coordinator? Isn't that the case with just about all the others?

Don't know much about Grimes, but Pat Ruel comes to mind as a former Jayhawk under Mason and a Rival's top 25 recruiter. I liked the run game back then. That toss sweep was almost a lock on third down and three or four. Of course, getting him out of SC would not be easy I imagine, and bottom line is he has to be a guy that TG can work with...coach chemistry.

We still need a DL coach and DB coach. Hopefully they are good recruiters and put guys into the NFL.

Big 12 has high power offenses the D coaches will have to be 1st class and ties into fertile texas schools. maybe after some bowl games, maybe some have declined, yet he seems well connected : hey how about some disgruntled NFL D coaches. putting together the rigth staff, men of character and connections and talent must be fun as well as critical; do it slow do it right.

Give Mr. Gill time, boys, give him time. I'm sure he hasn't overlooked the defensive side of the ball.

J.B. Grimes is considered one of the best o-line coaches in the nation. Great hire.

Should know by the 29th on who will fill out Gill's staff. I'm curious about who the defensive coaches will be. I've heard Robert Wimberly (LB), Melvin Smith (DB's), Tony Samuels (DB's), and Joe Dailey. Don't know much about Joe Dailey or what roll he may assume on Gill's staff.

I do believe Tony Samuels is being considered for DL, not DB's coach.

hawk1969, if you are right about tony samuels he would be an outstanding hire he was on osbornes staff back in the 90's during their national championship years. joe dailey would probably still be on the offensive side he was a top recruit for qb in frank solich's last 2 years great running qb with a pretty good arm he was definately an option qb then callihan ruined him by trying to make him throw 50 times a game, when callihan was threw with him he had very little confidence left. then turner took him in at buffalo, if he is going to bring him to kansas it will be for good reason. turner is who recruited him to nebr.

Wasn't Darrell Wyatt on Terry Allen's staff for a while?

Out of the north rides Buffalo Gill and his gang, including Woodchuck Long and Grimey Jim. They aim to set things aright.

Add Darrell Wyatt Earp. Should be a good posse.

I'm hearing that Charles McMillan may be the db coach. If that's true, it's a home run hire. He recruits Texas very, very well.

Haven't heard of McMillan....where does he come from?
