Harrison Barnes, a 6-foot-6 small forward from Ames (Iowa) High, will visit the University of North Carolina over Labor Day weekend on an official recruiting trip, the Des Moines Register reports.
Barnes said he will make official visits to his other finalists — Kansas, Duke, Oklahoma and UCLA — and make an unofficial trip to Iowa State, then choose a school after his high school season ends.
The Des Moines Register quoted Barnes, Rivals.com’s No. 2-rated player, on his finalists:
KU: “It’s close to home and there's a great tradition there. Coach Bill Self has great player-coach relations.”
UNC: “I was a big Michael Jordan fan. After visiting there, the university really stands on its own.”
Duke: “They have a great education. They have a great business school that could set me up after basketball.”
OU: “They're one of the hottest stocks right now. They’ve been bringing in great recruits. They definitely have a lot of my interest.”
UCLA: “They've been in three Final Fours in the last four years. They know how to win.”
ISU: “They've been bringing in some big- time players.”
