Kansas women’s golf 9th at Buckeye

— Kansas University’s women’s golf team ended its regular season with a ninth-place finish Sunday in the Lady Buckeye Invitational Sunday after shooting a three-round total 950 over two days in Columbus.

The Jayhawks now will wait to find out their seeding for the Big 12 Championships next weekend in Lubbock, Texas.

“We kind of got off to a rough start and never recovered,” KU coach Erin O’Neil said. “But a top-10 finish is never bad when you are playing in a field like this. We will just have to regroup and get ready for the Big 12 next week.”

Kansas shot a 327 Sunday, dropping one spot in the standings to finish in a tie for ninth place with Penn State. Emily Powers shot a team-low 235 over three rounds to finish tied for 33rd individually. Rounding out the lineup for KU were Sydney Wilson (74-81-81—236, t37), Meghna Bal (79-80-83—242, t56), Meghan Gockel (82-79-83—244, t60) and Grace Thiry (79-86-80—245, t62nd). Jennifer Clark (81-80-84—245, t62nd) competed as an individual for the Jayhawks.
