that's a nice finish to a year when early on they were not even picked to win the big 12. Not too sure why Mizzery was voted above KU though but it looks like the top ten vote getters were also the top ten in the sweet sixteen. which is the way it should be, I guess.

Oh come on Oklahoma State should be in the top 25.

And honestly, Missouri did deserve a higher rank than KU. They did better in the tournament and knocked off some quality teams. We knocked off decent teams, but not quite as decent as Memphis and well as hanging well with UConn.

Dickie V. is predicting that KU will win it all next year! Rock Chalk!!!

Please stay for one more year, Sherron and Cole!

We'd love for you to join the party, Xavier and Lance!

I guess it is great that Vitale has picked KU, but when was the last time he was correct? Why is Oklahoma ranked below Villanova? They played UNC a much better game.

rockchalkjayhawkku 11 years, 1 month ago

yates, I believe Vitale was correct this year. He predicted UNC to win, which they did.

KUSmurf 11 years, 1 month ago

Who wasn't predicting UNC to win this year? They were by far the most well put together team in the tournament.

Hawks rule. We are the Big 12 Champs, predicted much lower. We will rule again!

Dickie V predicts that UNC will win EVERY year!

Nice finish Jayhawks!!!

I agree with Vitale...our best chance for the national title is to keep the team chemistry that we currently have. I'll be glad to keep Cole and Sherron and by-pass on Lance and X.

The only exception that I have with the top 10 is that KU should have been no. 9 instead of Memphis. Memphis got rolled by Mizzou whereas KU played the national runner-up to within 5 points.

DV is an irrelevant has-been. I turn the station when he comes on. It doesn't matter if he predicts KU or Dodge City JuCo to win it all.

mlubyRN 11 years, 1 month ago

Didnt Dickey V predict that KU would win it all last year? Or was he saying UNC, I forget.

KUPROUD 11 years, 1 month ago

The worst thing about D.V. picking KU to win it all is that he'll get more face time in this area and I'll have to listen to his extremely over-spun, steroid enhanced, self-aggrandizing, sreaming monologue more frequently. AAARRRGGGHHH!

What a great showing for the Big XII - 3 of the top 10 teams.

<p> also picked KU as next years #1. While this is based on Sherron and Cole coming back, this is also without X Henry.

In case you missed it, ESPN just opened up their West Coast location in LA and started broadcasting the evening [10 pm PDT] Sports Center show on Monday. Now we shall see about the East Coast bias continuing or does it evolve into a Coast bias with the Midwest continuing to take it in the chops. Regardless, keep Dookie V out of Lawrence.

Bring on the 09-10` season. Go Hawks!!!

Nice job Jayhawks. Top 10. Looking forward to next year...

I read a Whitlock article over the weekend -- word on the street in Detroit was that KU has a legitimate shot at not only Henry, but 3 big recruits all told.

After watching the John Wall highlight film and comparing it to Henry...

Oh man! If Wall comes to KU, oh man....

(Whitlock seemed to think there was a good shot KU gets Wall even with the scholarships that have to be figured out).

I haven't seen anybody recognize what yesterday was.

One year ago last night, April 7, 2008, was the night of the championship game in San Antonio. I'll always remember the date because I have the front pages of the LJW and the Commercial Appeal (Memphis) framed and hanging next to each other. Headline, LJW : CHAMPIONS ! Headline, Commercial Appeal : HEARTBREAK

Hopefully, I'll need to make room a year from now to hang another framed front page. It could happen.....

Bill, bring back that lovin' feeling ! .

It would be awesome, but I think right now is the time to encourage Desmond Briscoe to fix whatever he did and get back on this team. It could be a very special year at the University of Kansas. Desmond, you are a great player. I don't know what you did but own up and take accountability for whatever it was and put it behind you. I sincerely believe that Kansas has a darn good chance at a Big 12 Championship, and if we accomplish that, it could mean that Kansas plays in the BCS National CHampionship game. Win or Lose, it puts Kansas on the minds of top recruits to continue building this winning football tradition.

Wow 10th overall considering nobody thought we would do anything this year.

Next year, we can't lose.

jayhawkboy35 11 years, 1 month ago

I think KU will be a strong team next year and be ranked better than 10th next year.

Oklahoma i think will not be a tough team considering they are loosing the best player in the nation.

Im not expecting much out of Missouri.....

i think Texas is gonna make a surprising run next year. (They played way under potential this past year.)
