Kansas coach Mark Mangino said Wednesday that injured receiver Dexton Fields will be a game-time decision heading into the team's game against Sam Houston State on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
Fields, who practiced with the team Wednesday, has been out since leaving the team's season-opening victory over Florida International due to what appeared to be a left foot injury.
"We have to be smart about it," Mangino said. "We'll probably wait up until Saturday to make a decision about it."

If he can't go, he will have 2 more weeks to heal before we play again which could make him 100%. I say if he's feelin good on gameday play him to shake off the rust but if not sit him and let him get healthy!

I hope they err on the side of caution. We can beat Sam Houston State with junior high kids manning the wide receiver spots.I will be disappointed if we don't score at least 60 and hold SHS to a field goal. I think that loss woke up the sleeping giant. I was at the first two games, and neither of them were very satisfying in terms of execution.

I just want to see the running game wake up. Our passing game has it's rhythm. We have one week for our rushing game to find it's own rhythm.

KG......Agreed. But this game won't be a gauge of whether KU has worked out the kinks in the running game. They would be better off scrimmaging against their own team than playing SHS.

While you're right about the lack of competition, I still think it would be extremely beneficial from a confidence perspective to have a great day on the ground. It won't prove anything in the short term but if the backs/line go into the ISU game knowing they couldn't run on Sam Houston, I'm not going to feel great about our chances of ever seeing much on the ground. On the other hand, if they can move the cahins and dominate the line and get a little momentum built, I think they go in a lot more confident...

No, it's on FCSN (Fox College Sports Network). Don't know where you live, flipborder, but if you get Sunflower Cablevision in and around Larry, it's ch.145, as it says above under the 'next game' heading for quick reference.
