Annette Davis, a 6-foot-1 senior forward from Bellaire (Texas) High School, has orally committed to play basketball at Kansas University.

Davis, who averaged 15.0 points and 8.0 rebounds a game last season, chose KU over Texas A&M, Louisiana Tech and Stephen F. Austin.

She's the third elite Texas player in the Class of 2009 to commit to KU. Earlier, KU coach Bonnie Henrickson received a commitment from Carolyn Davis, 6-3 out of Houston's George Bush High, and Monica Engleman, 5-10 from San Antonio's James Madison High.

Carolyn Davis happens to be Annette's Houston Elite AAU teammate and best friend.

"I think not just me and Carolyn, but the whole '09 class is excited about coming to Kansas," Annette Davis said Tuesday in making public her commitment.

KU also has received a commitment from Tania Jackson, 6-2 out of Lawrence High.

Congratulations Coach Henrickson and the entire Lady Jayhawks program! This is exciting news and shows that the program continues to build to a new level of success. Let's see the Women's program become a national power like the men and make AFH a place where all opponents worry about coming away with a win. Rock Chalk Lady Jayhawks!
