Collins displays leadership abilities

Before the Kansas men's season even started, junior guard Sherron Collins was the default leader.

At the 2008 Big 12 Media Day in Oklahoma City, players from around the conference weighed in on which player they liked, other than themselves, to win the conference's MVP award.

Most players went with safe picks by choosing their own teammates:

Matt Lawrence (of Missouri) picked Missouri's Leo Lyons.

Leo Lyons (of Missouri) picked Missouri's DeMarre Carroll.

Jacob Pullen (of Kansas State) picked Oklahoma's Blake Griffin.

DeMarre Carroll (of Missouri) picked Oklahoma's Blake Griffin.

Bryan Petersen (of Iowa State) hoped it would be one of his teammates, but ended up picking Oklahoma's Blake Griffin.

Jermyl Jackson-Wilson (of Colorado) picked Colorado's Cory Higgins.

Damion James (of Texas) picked Texas' A.J. Abrams.

Leo Lyons??? Are you kidding me?? Dude is a big oaf who should be playing football instead. I don't even know how the guy gets playing time...hilarious...If the hype is correct, then it will be Blake Griffin in a landslide. A.J. Abrams is horribly overrated, fyi.

I wouldnt necessarily say Abrams is overrated. The kid can flat shoot it and he showed improvement in his mid-range game last season. POY has got to be Griffin although if Sherron is healthy Im anticipated some big numbers from him. Like 20 pts/gm. That'll be worth something when the awards are handed out.
