So what exacty was Sherron Collins thinking while dribbling the ball up the court in the national championship game, Jayhawks down three points, time winding down?

In this one-on-one interview with KUsports.com's Jesse Newell, conducted at Big 12 Media Days in Oklahoma City, Collins takes you inside his head as he recounts his memory of the biggest assist in KU history. He talks about what he heard as he dribbled up the court, explains why he started slowly before sprinting past Memphis' Derrick Rose and talks about his pass to Mario that almost got away.

Collins goes on to discuss what his emotions were as he dribbled out the final seconds of the national championship game. He also talks about how his life has changed since KU won the title last April.

Sherron is looking a little older here. Interesting to watch these guys mature from high school kids to men. I know you can't see much of him, but he's looking fit. Rock Chalk

Sherron, you're a baller. I'll clap my hands numb. See you tonight at the game.

What a life changing event it was for Sherron to choose Kansas. Not sure how Sherron managed to dish out the ball to Chalmer while being chased and falling down to the floor, magic moment.

He gets it.. "Coming back to The Phog and receiving the same applause as Manning and the other guys." That's why KU is the standard for excellence. Rock Chalk!!!

Nice angle about what was going through his mind. And what a revelation to hear he literally escaped getting fouled. Much was made in the media about why Memphis did not foul him--well their coaching staff was yelling for Rose to foul him, but Sherron heard them and simpy hit the jets! The stars were aligned to 'crimson and blue' the last 2 minutes of regulation--there were so many 'ifs' that all went our way. Still amazing, as Sherron has discovered--the thrill of that team win will be with us all forever.

Truer words have never been spoken. Sherron the applause will always be there for you. Thank you for the instinct, clutch play, and the wonderful memories of 07/08. Rear these baby Hawks and lets get it started again.Rock Chalk 08

One thing I wish they would have asked...was about his 3 after his steal. That was clutch.

Sherron Collins is the epitomy of a team player. This kid could have been starting ahead of Robinson throughout the year, but instead became our spark off the bench. He could have got more minutes going to another school knowing what KU already had. He instead came to KU. Think it was worth it now Sherron? Do me a favor. Show everyone what they have been missing. Take your game to another level. Lets hear the media talk about someone else besides Hansbrough and UNC. One things for sure......It's nice to know that I will feel comfortable late in games when the ball is in your hands. If you don't score, you'll sure as hell create something for the "someone" who will.
