KU baseball puts five on academic teams

Four Kansas University baseball players were named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team, and another was named to the second team.

Seniors Justin Ellrich and Joe Southers and juniors Nick Faunce and Paul Smyth were first-team selections. Senior Erik Morrison was named to the second team.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters. Players must have participated in 60 percent of their team's contests, while pitchers are required to have at least one inning pitched per game played or have appeared in 20 percent of their team's total games.
