The new KCP&L district sounds very cool from what I've read and seen. Wish I lived closer so I could experience it. When I lived/worked in the KC area, downtown was definitely not a destination to hang out. It was dead by 5pm after work.

Smart game plan by Nebraska. I wonder how long they can play this kind of basketball effectively? Or how long before we turn it up a notch and start dictating some tempo?

We got beat in all 5 areas in the 1st half.

What it ake to make it to the Final 4. We have a long ways to go.

1st half thoughts:

1)Brandon Rush has pulled another disappearing act.

2)Darrell Arthur commits a foul 17 seconds into the game. 2 points and no field goals. We'll lose if we only get 5 points out of Rush and Arthur 2nd half.

The game plan should be getting the ball down to the low post. There is no real good way for NU to stop us from scoring down there (if arthur decides he wants to show up that is)

I'm most dissapointed in the lack of effort and focus. We're getting out hustled by Nebraska. And that's unacceptable.

I would sure like to be a fly on the wall for that half time speech. We had better pick it up. Nebraska is playing very hard, but I don't think they can keep this up. They have to get tired sometime, right?

I am just going to start drinking now, in case this gets really bad. I don't want my kid to understand the words that come out of my mouth!!

While I think we were looking past NU, we are only down by five at half. We will be okay. If we do lose tonight, it's better to get a wakeup call now than waiting for the Big Dance.

Halftime adjustments seemed to clean that up. Also, KU just looks sharper here in the second half. I think the first half was a combination of the Huskers being inspired and us expecting to cruise because NU hasn't played us close in 2 years.

We look to be back on track now.

tx-That was a flagrent foul if I have ever seen one! It now looks like the refs have lost control of this game, and just started calling T's since they blew that first call.

You know, ESPN 360 is still not showing the game.

This just validates all the anti-KU conspiracy theories.

Collins was driving unimpeded, the NU guy put his elbow in his back, not real hard, but nonetheless, in his back.

Collins jumped in his face a little, but didn't push him or anything. I think he got the T because he kept talking after the official told him to walk away. I know the referees were trying to diffuse the situation, but I understand why Collins was so upset. The guy had no play on the ball, but he hit Sherron anyway. That's a good way to get somebody hurt pretty bad. I have a scar on my face from a similar play in high school... I landed on my face after getting hit from behind.

Sherron should have walked away when the referee told him to, but I understand why he was mad and can't blame him for not walking away, especially since he didn't bump the guy or do anything physical.

I didn't see it, but I like it when we finally get pissy and jump into someone's face. Way to go, Sherron.

The first half was not pretty, but (apparently) we got it together and won by a comfortable margin.

I wouldn't get too worked up over the first half of this one. Nebraska had a smart game plan, executed well, and we came out flat.

It's easy to say "if we were playing someone better", but we weren't. We did what we needed to do to win. We see this again tomorrow and you can start wondering again.

One of the down sides, though, was our regulars put on a lot of mileage tonight. These kinds of minutes can wear on a team come Sunday.

I was unable to get anything on ESPN360--no games. Looks like ESPN360 is out as a source to watch from here on out, because of overloading. Hence, I owe them nothing now.

Regarding talk of conspiracy theories against KU: these are not conspiracy theories, they are conspiracy facts.

To reiterate my recent rant, Dick Vitale didn't name one KU player to ANY of his SIX solid gold teams! He placed NUs Alec Maric, a player our bigs treated like a boy toy every time they played him, onto his fifth team and left Jackson and Arthur off even the sixth team!

To initiate a new rant, Roy Williams and UNC are getting the sports broadcasting equivalent of ABCCBSNBCCNN crowning McCain the next duly unelected NeoRoyalist President before the cooked nominations are even handed out.

Roy NEVER got this kind of preferential treatment at KU in 15 years!

And how about this: I bet at least a quarter of KU's wins don't even make the headlines on the ESPN Men's Home page, while every KU defeat gets top billing. Conversely, EVERY UNC win makes the headline list.

No more talk of conspiracy theories, guys, when the conspiracy facts are out on the table.

You can't explain this nonsense any other way. ESPN slices the baloney differently when it comes to KU. And its a cut most unkind to KU.

Frankly, Memphis is getting almost as shabby a treatment. Memphis would beat the living litter clumps out of UNC if they were to meet, but they won't because UNC will be out by the Sweet 16, maybe the Elite 8 if they get hot.

I now HOPE AND PRAY KU is put in UNC's region. I want a piece of UNC. I want Roy NOW! I want to watch our defense strangle Hansbrough and the Tarholes.

But that won't happen, of course because KU and Memphis have to be put in the same region, like Kirk Douglas' Spartacus and Woody Strode to get rid of one of them, so UNC can at least have a fighting chance to get to the Final Four.

bhann - good stat. I agree totally. I didn't mean to imply that it's OK to come out flat and be down at half time. Eventually, that will catch up with even the best teams.

But, given the emotional high we've been on for the last couple of weeks, the beat downs we've given Nebraska this year, the bullseye on our backs, and the fact that Nebraska could "let it all hang out" I can see how we could struggle out of the gate.

At least for this game, we did find a way to create tempo and change the game. We actually imposed our will and style on the opponent.

There are plenty of Georgetowns out there who will choose to play this way and we've got to figure out how to win these type of ugly, grind it out games. In the tournament, there won't be a track meet every night.

I will give us the benefit of the doubt on this one, but, there's no pass on tomorrow's game. Let's rev it back up, again.
