2008 KU football schedule

Kansas University on Tuesday announced the kickoff times and television schedule for the upcoming non-conference schedule to start the 2008 season.

The Jayhawks, coming off a 12-1 campaign and Orange Bowl championship, will play on national television twice in the non-con season.

The season opener, Aug. 30 at home against Florida International, will kick off at 6 p.m. and will not be televised. The following week, KU will kick off at 6 p.m. again against Louisiana Tech, and that game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports Network.

The Jayhawks' one and only road non-conference tilt will come Sept. 12 at South Florida in Tampa. That Friday night game will kick off at 7 p.m. local time and is scheduled to air nationally on ESPN2.

KU's final non-conference game, Sept. 20 at home against Sam Houston State, will kick off at 6 p.m. and won't be televised.

It was also announced that the Nov. 29 Border War game between Kansas and Missouri, which will take place at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City for the second straight year, will be carried on the air by FSN. That game will kick off at either 11:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.

Looks like a good schedule. I wish that ESPN wouldn't push these games on Friday nights though, I still think that high school football shouldn't have to compete with it, but oh well.

Too bad they couldn't make the USF game the national season kickoff one, but it's nice to finally be able to watch their non-con on tv for a change.

Why wouldn't a national network pick up the KU-MU game? Could FOX move it up the the FOX network from FSN?

Shazam- If KU and MiZZery have the same records as last year, a major network might pick up the game.I for one, however; am looking forward to the early kick off at cameroHead.

lance - I agree, I too am looking forward to the game starting sooner. It will leave us more time afterward to celebrate our victory with a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue or a reasonable facsimile thereof :o)

It's fantastic that I will be able to see several of the games out here on the West Coast. Hopefully most of the conference games will be Fox Sports Net games rather than ESPN Gamplan games; the previous are MUCH cheeper with Time Warner Cable.....

If I remember right, ABC has the option to pick up their prime time games at their discretion. I think they can trump any other network for their 7:00 Saturday night game.

I kinda figured KU would get on TV with USF (since they did two seasons ago). Pleasantly surprised to see KU and LTU on TV. Speaks volumes for where Mark Mangenius has brought the program.I can only hope 2007 wasn't a one-year wonder like 1995...
