KU women’s golfers on scholar team

Kansas University's Meghan Gockel and Sydney Wilson were named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team.

To qualify for the team, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and compete in at least 50 percent of her team's rounds during the year.

Gockel, who completed her sophomore season, is an accounting and finance major.

Wilson, who was a red-shirt freshman in 2007-08, is a business-management major.

Gockel, from Dallas, played in seven tournaments for the Jayhawks, with a top finish of 19th at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational.

Wilson, who is from Lawrence, played in six events, including two as an individual.
